If we started the NRL from scratch, what teams would we have?

Western Sydney needs more then 1 team imo. There are 2 million people living there.

Just because Sydney breaks down into 4 nice regions doesnt mean each should get one team and thats it. It requires some more in depth research and thought.

+1 how someone can just say one team in Western Sydney when it provides the majority of juniors and has the highest junior participation in the country...yet Brisbane has 3 teams...yeah that makes sense.

Newy is further from the Gosford then Sydney.

I live 5min from Bluetongue. Newcastle airport is 1km closer to my place than kingsford smith, and about 40min quicker to get there without traffic. It only gets worse from there!

Granted, the SFS is a little closer, but if I had the choice of going to a game in Moore Park or Newy, I know I'd be heading north! It's so much quicker and more accessible than Sydney is from the Central Coast.

I thought the Illawarra region couldnt financially sustain an NRL team?

Na they cant you would need to move the team to Sutherland that way you have an each way bet on the three teams supporters.

The person that said kog has rocks in their head lol.

All true, I drive to Syd daily from Avoca so i know what a shitfight getting into Sydney can be. My point is Newy is to far away for anyone to expect the central coast to be happy supporting a Newy team.

Yeah, that's fair enough. I travel to Pyrmont, so we're in a similar position in that respect.

If Newy is too far away tho, then Sydney must be considered even less attractive to CC residents?

Most definately, which is why i said if any sorta restructure like this ever happened i'd be very suprised if the CC didnt get their own team. I will always support Penrith but I can see how ripe the CC is for an nrl team.

Pretty much. Anyone wanting to lump CC with northern Sydney has rocks in their head, they might as well combine Campbelltown with Canberra (yes I realise it's a few hours drive but it could be 2 hours for someone from the northern beaches to get to Bluetongue). People say "it's just up the F3" but it would take well over an hour (in good traffic) to get from Palm Beach to Hornsby before you even get onto the F3.

Yeah lets stamp out all tradition, rivalries, history and heritage from the game.

They do something like this and I'm out. The NRL isnt the NSL.

No argument there. It'd be a quick and easy way to lose about half a million fans.

I also like this. Very similar to my original list.

And no I am not suggesting we wipe out history over night.
It is just a hypothetical.

Thus, it is best if people just state place names, not existing teams/mergers.
