If you could add any five players to your squad, what would your 17 look like?

That's true

Which means you would win five games per year overall

Johns will play more FG than Soward this year.

Partly because Johns will play around 20 matches, and partly because Soward will be stuck in PL behind the almighty Brett Finch.

i cant belive no one wants thompson he is in the best form of his career and is one of the form players in the league.
Dragons would take him back in a blink of an eye IMO

Sorry mate, next time I'll be sure to pick a PL half whose stuck behind Brett Finch in front of the best player in the competition.

If you were picking youth, Soward wouldn't be your first picked either.

I picked him too.

Purely because Johns is about 40 years old.

Souths would kill for just one year of success.

Johns would bring a few.

Johns may retire at the end of next year, so that's blowing the chance to get the best young halfback in the game to take a gamble on the worlds best, but also the worlds most injury prone player for one year?

Speaking of dumb ideas...

Pity you didn't think before you posted.

Johns is 32, injury prone and while he's probably the best there ever was, he's got one year left in him and he's done. Soward is still only 21/22 and has shown form in first grade, a change of scenery may bring the best out in him. Then there's the fact that Johns may not compliment the team. Bumble picked Soward alongside Thurston who likes to control things by himself, and Soward is a very good runner/support player with a great kicking game, they'd compliment eachother well. Johns and Thurston would get in eachothers way most likely, just like Johns and Lockyer did in the test last year.

But there's too much thinking there for you to come up with that. A Knights fan notices someone snubs Johns in any minor way and it's automatically "Where the f**k is Joey? He's the best in the world and the best of all time and much better than Lockyer or Wally Lewis for that matter!" Pretty sad really.
