Inu accepts he may no longer be an Eel

Inu has about eight seasons of first grade ahead of him. Grothe has maybe two at best as does Luke Burt. So why would we get rid of Inu?

Where Inu is concerned a back who can play centre, wing, fullback and kick goals is kind of hard to come by.

If re-signings were based solely on football then this would be the best option. For all my opinion is worth, I don't think Burt has 2 left in him...

Why do you say that about burty 81236 aside from his receding hairline he's not showing that he's slowed down pace wise nor between his ears.Curious

I think Burty can play on until he's 31. He's 29 now and he looks good on-field. I think Hindy might be on his last legs though. Bear in mind that Burt missed almost all of 2003 and a lot of 2000-2001 with injury. So the wear and tear on his body is a bit less.

I mentioned in another thread a few days ago that Inu/Mateo and Moimoi dont get along with Anderson. Inu has been in deep discussions with Souths and wants an extra 50,000 ontop of what they are currently offering. He is keen for a change though.

Not quite. He would prefer to stay. But circumstances may prevent that.

imo it's almost certain thet Feleti and INU will be addad to the 2011 losses list, however both players are extremely replaceable..

You are right. He probably does have 2 in him, just not at Parra. If our current lineup were to be maintained then I don't think he will finish his contract in our starting 13. Inu and co should be/still be better than him. Burt is not the sort of guy you play off the bench, so I fear that he may finish his career playing for Wenty.
It's much easier and cheaper long term to keep Inu whilst we have him than try and replace potentially 2 players in his positiion, of his quality, in 2 years time. It always costs more to buy a player than keep a player.

Having said that, If Burty says he wants to keep going and can still perform at a first grade standard then how can we reallly say no? The man is a Parra. We owe him a lot more than he owes us. It would be unAustralian and unParramatta to force him out.

If the salary cap had allowances for long serving players and producing your own juniors we would be able to keep them both. :(

We know we probably won't keep Mateo because he isn't worth 400K and he's kind of surplus to requirements.

So why don't we lose Cayless, Grothe and Mateo and buy a halfback (Hodkinson) a prop or two and retain Inu?

We have made a habit of letting players go too early. We let Ryan go in 2002. We offered him only a two-year contract when he wanted three years. He went on to play another eight years of first grade. We let Ian Hindmarsh go and he played four good seasons before coming home. PJ Marsh had a sensational 2002 and would've gone on but for the neck injury. Jason Cayless ..... Chad Robinson .... Shicofske, Hodgson,Tonga..... The list is a bit too long and depressing. We need to start thinking beyond our immediate needs and try to see a season or two in advance.

Where Inu is concerned a back who can play centre, wing, fullback and kick goals is kind of hard to come by. He's also a great ambassador for the club.

I mean I know he's no Jeff Robson ... but he goes alright!!!

I would love to see Kris stay to.
With the players you have named though, you have to look at the individual circumstances, EG; PJ didnt want to go, Parra didnt want to let him go. There was an error in timing from memory and he had to sign with the Warriors.

Id easily keep Inu before Robson. I dont have a lot of raps for him. He doesnt seem to be able to read the play like some other halves.

I'd like to keep INU but not for more than $150K. I reckon Wright could replace him at a fraction of the price.

According to Vossy on The Footy Show, Inu will DEFINITELY not be an Eel in 2011 and will most likely be a Warrior.

He said that Inu is a DEFINITE to go somewhere else for 2011 and he says his mail is he's goin overseas to the warriors but he still wants to wait for an offer from the eels which doesn't look like coming.

it's always sh*tty losing a local junior but I just can't see INU reaching the potential that he should at our club and the same goes with Feleti.

Inu is surplus to needs. We don't need a centre on $280K that is on the outer from the coach. We need forwards and halves.

True...

But how does a guy who wants to stay, is in good form and could easily replace the other guy we're supposedly losing (ie: Grothe) get squeezed out?

Obviously there's more to it than simply money...Or squad balance.

If we lose Grothe and Inu then that is just dumb.

My sources are nowhere near as good as some guys on here, but anyway. Inu will receive an offer....it just won't be enough to compete with the massive cash the Warriors are willing to throw at him. We can only hope he wants to stay no matter what. I do know he is holding off for that offer, so maybe we'll get lucky, or maybe his form will explode and we'll HAVE to make him a decent offer

the little whisper i heard is that there won't be an offer forth coming...as always, I may well be wrong.
