All the nsw fans bagging latrell now will be talking him up and hoping he blows away qld come origin

same people were saying Cleary was a bad half back when they lost origin a few years ago

Cleary still gets grief; one good game by a back-up for Penrith and some are claiming Cleary is a fraud. Obviously didn’t think to watch the GF last year.

I would love to watch Mitchell in SOO, but he needs to play centre. That is his position.

Latrell plays in the centres for Origin to date. I sincerely doubt he will get picked to play fullback for NSW.

I’ve never been too critical of Latrell. I’ve thought he was a great player who copped far more criticism than he has deserved in the past.

However, this season he has been playing like someone with an extremely poor attitude. He shows little to no effort out the back in defence, which has cost Souths a number of times this season. He needs to be held accountable, and until Demetriou does that, I wouldn’t be having any expectations of Latrell or Souths this season.
That's a wild take. His involvements have been way up this season.

We've been completely burned on the edges most games by the slowest three-quarter line in the competition, or rolled through the forwards, and then people bag Latrell for not stopping the try.

I don't think there's a single person out there who would argue moving Latrell to centre if we had a better option at fullback.

Really hoping Jye Gray kicks on, he's been huge in reserves so far this year.

So when he moves to the centres he magically transforms into a fit and talented rugby league player ?

On average, a centre does far less work than a fullback does. True they might attempt and make more tackles, but they run the ball far less than a fullback does. Additionally, centres rarely have to traverse as much territory to make a tackle like fullback does.

So he’s still unfit when he stars at centre for nsw

lol

Latrell isn’t in the best form now but what about the rest of his team

Bellamy is rumoured to have once said;
"If Greg Inglis had the work ethic of Billy Slater he'd be the best player in the world, but he doesn't and that's why Billy is fullback".

Latrell is big, strong and very talented, but I think the same sentiment holds true. If he had the work ethic of say Teddy or Turbo he'd be one of the all time greats. But at the moment - despite what many of the commentators say - he's not.
Tbf you cant run like Billy or Turbo when built like Inglis or Mitchell! They play to their strengths which is more occasional power plays. Id take Billy Slater over either of them in a heartbeat though!

GI did turn himself into peak fitness under Madge. He was unstoppable for about 3 seasons (thankfully won the comp in one of them) before his body couldn't keep up anymore.

I don't think the modern fullback position is designed for big bodies.
