People claiming Joey defending at hooker whilst playing halfback in attack with Toovey doing vice versa is somehow a blight on his career genuinely have no f**king idea about Rugby League.

Jeeze wonder who got the 7 jumper

So you agree that Joey was 1 from 5 in Origin and had won half a premiership at Cleary's age.

Glad you cleared that up.
Good one. Cleary is still an Origin failure who gets outplayed every year by a middle aged DCE.

Joey's best Origin years were in 2003 and 2005 at what age?

2000 off the bench.

He was pretty ordinary in 2002 playing a full series at halfback.

Cleary has already destroyed his club career. Maybe Newcastle would have a more impressive trophy cabinet if Joey didn't choke away the 2000 prelim.

Lol at Albert celebrating the win at half time.

Off the top of my head I'd at least rate the 1995 and 2000 Maroons teams as worse than anything that's been rolled out over the past 5 series. You know full well Bennett wouldn't have gone anywhere near that Qld side in 2020 if he thought it was as poor as the revisionist historians want to imply...

That's a wild take. His involvements have been way up this season.

We've been completely burned on the edges most games by the slowest three-quarter line in the competition, or rolled through the forwards, and then people bag Latrell for not stopping the try.

I don't think there's a single person out there who would argue moving Latrell to centre if we had a better option at fullback.

Really hoping Jye Gray kicks on, he's been huge in reserves so far this year.
That's why I specifically said his efforts in defence. I don't think he shows the urgency, effort, and awareness at Fullback, which is allowing opposition teams to take advantage of Souths.

Even on Good Friday, there was an instance where the Bulldogs kicked to the corner and the Souths winger picked up the ball to return. From the moment the ball was kicked to when the Souths winger was tackled, Latrell WALKED (not a jog) across the field, never getting himself into a position to support his winger.

Revising history here.

NSW were off back to back series wins and the QLD greats were all starting out with it being Thurston's first series.

That huge loss by plenty in game one was in golden point.

Both comps he won Newcastle were long odds to win

manly were one of the best defensive sides in history

parra were one of the best attacking sides in history

97 has a punctured lung that didn’t heal fully

2001 a bad groin

Joey saved rugby league in 97

The only thing Joey saved in 1997 was the Newcastle disco biscuits industry. 5000% industry growth after September
