Is St George Illawarra Still A Joint Venture Club

I won’t defend the Illawarra side of the equation having no money and forcing the JV to borrow money.

But Illawarra didn’t give us Doust.
That’s all on us.

Precisely..

For whatever reason legacy St George fans blame Illawarra for everything..

However.. 2 of the 3 rookie coach appointments are St George old boys.

The CEO is also a key leader for the leagues club..

Notwithstanding the fact that the side with no money is apparently ‘running the club’..

The sooner everyone accepts we are a one club, the better it is for the club..

But then again some people may just want to be angry about something that’s long gone and out of their control..

We would still use their junior nurseries, just not let their administrators have anything to do with running the joint.

Mary, Young and Hornby would not have their jobs.
Their juniors were .....and will .....always be ours.

In spite of letting the Stewart brothers and a few others slip through the net.
The key thing is the culture of mediocrity would not have gripped the club as it has now. Insidious. Debilitating. Grows like a blob.

Yeah, as I posted beforehand the Illawarra football junior area would acquiesce meekly (and be sio damn happy) under your proposal.

Good one.

Did you just agree with me?
Are you feeling ok?

Mary is Illawarra, that’s enough for eternal dislike
Hornby and Young are Illawarra
Enough said

I always found it strange that WIN would pull thier naming rights sponsorship in the middle of long running negotiations to by half the club.
Bruce Gordon withdrew the sponsorship just after the Club announced the Right Game, Right Venue 'strategy' in November, 2013. It was reported at the time that he wasn't happy with the decision.

Another one of Doust’s fantastic decisions, he’s made so many great ones it’s kinda hard to keep up.

And be a club like Cronulla which prostituted itself to Rupert Murdoch’s News Ltd., and it’s filthy lucre?

No thanks. I’m relieved that Saints stuck to its priciples and remained with the ARL.
Or be like Bulldogs, Broncos or wait for it.....STORM.

f**k the ARL. They f**ked standalone Dragons over....If we went superleague there would be no Cronulla now. We prostituted ourselves worse and ended up with half a club no history.

Hang on a second, by paying out the debt and keeping the club afloat, aren't the Illawarra faction now the dominant partner?

If anything, shouldn't they now be the Illawarra St George Steelers?

Does that mean the 15 premierships before the JV now belong to Illawarra too?

Bow down to your new overlords!

Does anyone know why we had to borrow 6m from the NRL?

At the time I supported to Club's decision to align with the ARL and not Super League however, in retrospect I now believe it would have been better to support Super League. With full support of all Clubs, the Super League had already gone down the track of expanding the game and making it a truly national sport.

When it comes to junior districts, Illawarra and St George do no have complete control of players from the Illawarra juniors. In the past many juniors who were successful at junior level, have gone on to play their first NRL game at a Club other than Illawarra or St George or SGI.

Finally, it is my view that if WIN's main reason for investing in SGI was to 'advocate for things Illawarra, then a more honest way to invest would have been to give the 10m to Illawarra and on the condition that Illawarra used the funds to pay their debts and the 6m debt to the NRL. For this investment WIN could have asked for places on the Illawarra Board and the SGI board. Under such an arrangement, Illawarra's place in the joint venture would not be in question.

You realise that’s pretty much what they did, yeah?

In other breaking news, we have a new prime minister.

well, not all.

raiders have done f**k all, the warriors are just a basket case.

panthers have won only one comp, as have the dogs and north queensland (we'll address the sharts in a second..).

the only really successful team from superleague have been the broncos, and even then they were successful from inception into the NSWRL.

as for those aqua merkins, they're only successful in recent years.

since superleague they've had years where they were so shit they couldn't even get a sponsor. no-one wanted to be associated with this shit jersey:
531380-cronulla-sharks.jpg

have got to the point of extinction so badly that they had to build units at their home ground.

they had ashley maddison wanting to sponsor them.

they've cheated with peptides, had a player sacked for pissing in his own mouth.

had a player sacked for glassing his missus and blaming it on a mate..

had a player sacked for cocaine abuse.

and to top it all off, have only won one premiership in 50 years.

and even then it could very well be stripped from them for salary cap cheating.

in short, f**k cronulla. they aren't a yardstick for success.

they should be booted to perth.

And yet despite all that, the scumbag of a club has had on-field results in the past 5 or so years that put ours to shame.
