I reckon we could play him at #6. Lyon would be a gun 5/8. Speed, power and a passing game, he can kick too.

Come home son, and pull on the number 6.

And another thing. If you support the Eels are are fair dinkum about winning a Premiership, you HAVE to take Jamie Lyon back. With Lyon at 5/8, and the backline we have and Tim Smith none the wiser, we would be absolutely awesome. We could go real close the 1st year back with Lyon to winning the premiership.

1- McKinnon
2- Williams
3- Smith
4- Tahu
5- Grothe
6- LYON
7- Smith
8-Cayless
9- RIddell
10- Stringer
11- Hindmarsh
12- Morrison
13- Morris

14- Marsh
15- Widders
16- Fui Fui
17- Vella

If someone can tell me that team would not be awesome, please let me know.

If his coach & former team mates (those still with the club) could forgive him than so could I. What he done was weak & inexcuseable however he is the best centre in the world & if all was peachy again you would have to consider it.

I also think if he were to come back the only place you could play him is 5/8th but I wouldn't change the hooking or backrow options to accomadate John Morris being forced out of his position either. He has been great in the role (Morris) but I think Lyon would be a better pivot & he would be the unlucky one to drop out of the 17.

The bench, mostly the Widders/Marsh rotation was one of our great strengths this year & neither would or should drop out. You also couldn't have those two & Morris on the same bench either. You could play Morris at lock but he's too small & we lose another stength to do that.

Morris has been great but if Lyon were to come back I think he would be the unlucky one to miss out. Jamie, as good as he is bought this on himself & has to wear whatever those in the club decide & if they don't want him then it serves him right. If they can accept him than maybe it show it was blown up by the media to be more than it was in which case I could support him again.

I don't know the story behind his leaving. All I know is that when he played for us he was very good & that he has lost nothing of that since leaving. I also know I was very disapointed when he left us. My support has always been with the coach & club & If they could accept him back, knowing more about what really happened than me, I can too.

i'd have Morris at hooker before Riddell

What do you have against Riddell? Morris at hooker before Riddell is silly. Riddell is a better hooker and if Morris was at hooker either Riddell or Marsh would have to miss out and they are simply too good to leave out of the side.

I hate to see anyone left out at this time especially given the loyalty of the current squad has never been doubted. None of them deserve to lose aspot to Lyon after what he did but that is an opinion based on emotion.

Common sense tells me the team would benefit from his skill & to put him in the starting lineup should be done so as the team makeup is not completely altered for the sake of one player. therefore Morris out - Lyon 5/8th IMO.

But its only based on this paper article ATM & I don't know what really happened so......?

Any club in the NRL would surely have to welcome Jamie Lyon if they got the chance to sign him.

He will be very, very expensive though. Saints are currently working on the minor details of a world record contract for him, so it will take a pretty big deal to get him back. Its unlikely he'll sign it, but it would give his agents plenty of bargaining power over there.

Jamie has always been honest with us though and made it clear he intends to go back to Australia for 2007. Missing out on him over the issues over which he left would be rather unprofessional of Parra.

I'm failr certain that IF we accepted his offer, the people at the Eels would tell him to apologise or something.

Which would be fine by me!

Dickhead or not, he's a bloody brilliant talent. A talent like his is much more likely to take us to a Premiership than a second-rate player!

Screw it - I hope the story is true. I hope the players and staff accept him. I hope whatever needs to be done is done and I hope he comes back to his home.

Jamie will be cheap to any NRL club, only expensive to St. Helens. He wants to come back to Australia and regain his NSW/Test jumpers, plus his girlfriend still lives here doesn't she? I don't think St. Helens have enough money to keep him away from all of that, but it would look bad if they didn't try their best to keep him.

I reckon 350k would be enough to sign him, although he's probably worth 400. Either way, I think Parra would have enough if the likes of Cannings, Graham, Morris and (maybe due to injury) Stringer are all let go next year. It's just a matter of whether they're willing to gamble on him.

So where does this leave Ray Hadley's credibility. He went on for so long about dissatisfaction with Smith being the main reason Jamie Lyon left Parra.

Maybe he should be the first to apologise to Smith (As if)
