Other than your strange obsession with Hayne, why would you assume that if both Norman and Foran left, that we'd have to pair Hayne with Kelly. You reckon Jarryd would cost the same as Norman and Foran put together? Or do you think we'd just not bother buying another half?

I see a lot of Pou in this post.

") Not everything Pou says is shit stirring.

But it's pretty simple, if for some reason, Norman and Foran disappeared, I find it hard to believe that Hayne would cost as much as both of them put together. Assuming that is correct, we have some change to buy a reasonable other half.

We'd have no reason to "push" either of them yet, unless admissions have been made and the NRL is involved? Norman is not signed for 2017 anyway...

Surely Norman would play on this season until he has to plead in his court case? After that, it all depends on his plea and the outcome of the case - but if Norman ends suspended from rugby league, we might get salary cap dispensation (second tier) to replace him for the remaining rounds.

With Foran, again he's be aiming to recover and turn out for us in 2017 - unless there is some substance to recent alleagtions and admissions have been made to the NRL, which could change things considerably.

Who said anything about Norman? We have a half that is on elite money that is injury prone, depressed and has more off field issues than Paris Hilton but you think it must be Norman. Let me put it this way I would be shocked if both of our halves are with us next year but If it was up to me I would prefer Norman to Foran. The pressure will keep mounting on Foran especially if he stays with us. Good luck to him, I hope he has a long career but I reckon it just won't work with us and I hope he leaves so that the prodigal son can return.

The coaching staff however are split on who to retain. That I can state as fact.

The coaching staff are split on who to retain? One is off contract the other is not. Are you saying Foz is seriously considering leaving or is this a gutfeel mate?

See above Baz. What I hear is that IF Hayne returns one will leave. Both may stay but I'm hearing the drums getting louder of a return of Hayne and we will sacrifice one to make it happen. Just what I've heard mate.

Unless Foran is happy to go, it would be very difficult to remove him as it presently stands. He has a contract, and thus far there is no suggestion that he has breached it. Time will tell I guess.

Our captain is not in a good place mate. That's all I'm saying. I bet you it comes out this week re: his future with us. Just what I've heard mate.

It was just a reply to Gronk's post... which mentioned the prospect of Hayne and Foran in the halves.

We might not get a lot of notice for needing to replace Norman or Foran, and so there may not be a lot on the market at that time... hence Kelly!

(Tyr not to lose your humour in these trying times, like others that may have posted after you ;-).)

Yeh, sure. I was responding to Phantom's idea that if we lost both Norman and Foran, we could only afford Hayne + Kelly.

In the case of Foran, wouldn't we need someone to come in and take his contract over, at the current rate we are paying him if we were not to end up paying him to play elsewhere?

With the public knowledge of his recent issues which club would consider doing that?
And if another club thought he was worth it - why wouldn't we?

Thanks for your info as always Avenger. How do you think this will play out?

You said one of our halves, I talked about both - Norman and Foran :?

Fair enough, hence why I spoke about the possibility of losing either/both.

Personally... I'd keep Foran because he's under contract, and not re-sign Norman (even if he remains eligible to play NRL in 2017).

It wasn't the content off the post, it was the way it was constructed. But, I digress. In a way, I had hoped that Hayne had stayed in the states and not returned as a gun for hire. We have gotten over him as a player at the Eels and quite frankly we have been making a fist of it ( salary cap issues aside). Two seasons out of the game plus a body re-designed for NFL has given me some doubts. Just my thoughts.

I consider this forum as football related conversation that we would have hanging out together. I'd expect anyone else to share if they had similar info. Isn't that what forums are for or is it a place to just put shit on Pou, stalk Suity or be agenda driven like phantom?

Almost forgot it's also a place for big noting.

Agree re thoughts of Hayne - imo he's going to take some time to adjust to league full stop if he returns next year, let alone adjusting toa new position that requires front line defence and regular (rather than optional/surprise) playmaking.

I never said anything about affording... as mentioned by someone else, you appear to be channelling Pou.

If 'channeling Pou' means testing the logic behind an argument, I'm fine with that. But....the comment is an irrelevance and a distraction from the point.

So, if it's not about 'affording' anything more than Hayne + Kelly, why do you think that the Hayne + Kelly situation would be the outcome?

I don't know buddy. There are other people on here with different angles and sources that may shed more light but there is plenty of uncertainty there. One thing is for sure Arthur cannot do all this on his own. Some need to move on, pronto and there is a need for leadership. Personally I don't think we can do it without the NRL at least in the first instance.
