If he does return I don't want Hayne at 1. It's 6 or nothing from me even though as Colonel pointed out he would probably want the number 1 jersey back. But do we lose a potential star in Bevan French to appease Hayne ? I say no.

BA has shown he isn't set to standard styles, suits the game plan to his players ( eg Paulo in 2014 as "middle half" and not forcing halves to remain on either side this year), so I am pretty sure if we lost a halve and gain Hayne, he would put something in place that suits the skills of both Hayne/French.

French could play in the halves, but really don't want him defending there. While we wouldn't want Hayne stuck on one side.

Exciting times !!

Not sure we'd have to lose French. And, of course, he's far from the finished article. Regardless of who you pick in 1 / 6 Hayne could defend in the line, but switch to FB in attack.

You could have a central half in Norman and then have French and Hayne as the other halves. Similar to what the Cowboys do but not have Hayne and French on left and right as cowboys do with morgan and coote.

Foran and Norman was our plan and should remain our plan.
Hayne was a great player but his price tag and individual approach did not bring the best out of our team. As a club we have moved past Hayne. Two years out of the game ruined Hoppa.
Say no to Hayne and stick with the plan that was working.
Surely we wouldnt be that bloody stupid. AGAIN.

I know Foran has some issues at the moment, but I would prefer a Foran / Hayne combo than a Norman / Hayne combo.

Foran is more the steady handy (with good on field leadership) while Hayne / Norman are more individual type players.

I agree. But also, he's better than Norman as a partner, but the best partner would be an organiser and kicker. I don't know who that is though.

The Foran plan isn't working either. The guy has too many off field dramas going on to concentrate on good consistent football

If Hayne did come back and make a fist of 1st receiver in his first 3 months, he would nearly be a shoe-in for Origin in the halves next year - something NSW has been lacking for a long time.
If he comes back and plays fullback, he still has to overcome Dugan for fullback (or end up on the wing or in the centres).
Not to mention Tedesco who was unlucky to miss out on Origin this year imo.

Has Jarryd ever put his hand up and indicated his keenness to play (including defend) in the front line? Or do his choices indicate that he'd prefer anything but...? He's a fullback (or winger) and nothing else imo. And like others I'd steer clear of planning to sign him.

The thing is that the politics of saying No is significant in itself.

Hypothetically, if a player gets injured in the trials and comes back in round 2 and then plays until round 8, injures himself and misses 2 games, comes back and gets a new injury which he plays with the week after when he shouldn't and is out for the season do we drop him like a hot potato?
Especially when we are winning at 66% with him in the team - seems like consistent footy to me.

Foz has missed 2 games for "off field" related issues only.

It's a bit like that actress from Grey's Anatomy who I'd always complain does nothing but bat her eyelashes.

Turns out I really just wanted to bang her stupid.

You don't think it's a concern that a 1.2 million dollar 'captain' has prescription drug issues, mental health issues and now his name is being thrown about in articles in this match fixing saga? Fair enough.

I personally don't want all that associated with my club. We have enough drama

I doubt a couple of years out of the game ruined Hoppa. He just wasn't as good as we thought. Hayne is up there with the all time greats - deserves a better comparison IMO.

Generally, I agree with a lot of your posts, but not in this instance. I think it would be a case of 'back to the future' if we signed him. I am quite happy for the club to move on without him rather than have the human headline back on deck. Moving on players to fit him in does nothing for team morale and unity going forward for starters. I wish him well for his future endeavours but I won't lose sleep if he goes elsewhere.

You might be right. I'm not convinced that getting Hayne back is the best way to go. The dominance/ego balance between he and other playmakers is something that needs considering . And the skills.

My main argument for getting Hayne back is that he's a once in a lifetime talent, so I would be give him every opportunity.
