Typical Hiney. Go with the full blown sarcasm when you've been brutally assaulted by logic and reasoning.
What logic??? Norman and Mennings are on heavily backend contracts. Two of our worst performing players, why do you think no one wants to touch them with a barge pole???

Pou believes our cap is fine, just like he believes everything is fine at the club.

My mail is we offered him the same aa this year and he wants about 50% more. Also some disagreement on the length of contract.

Heard we may even put a deadline on signing it to him.
And good on the club, 2 years 500k Max is all I would offer him.

If he doesn’t like it I’m sure someone else will pick him. Or he really loved the club he would stay for less and take the offer.

You didn’t have a problem when they were signed. You’ve only started this cap management diatribe when we’ve started losing.

Typical Hind(y)-sight. I wish we could all make decisions with the benefit of it.

Pou believes our cap is fine, just like he believes everything is fine at the club.
I bet he doesn’t think everything is fine. He is just pointing out some counter points to your Hind(y)-sight.

Then, because you are incapable of having a rational conversation about those specifics your immediate default position is to start with the sarcasm.

I bet you didn’t do debating at high school did you?

So if we are offering him $500k, our cap isn’t stuffed ............

I will question our cap management when i know if/how much we offered him and what he wants .... unless you know this then i think you are just blindly making shit up

And i am so sick of every f**ker bitching about how overpaid norman and moses are now - when evry f**ker was going on about how we signed em for reasonable amounts when we signed em .... ffs

Norman and moses are costing about same as Merrin and Tamou.....
Clubs sign players and when do take a risk. Not every player will be an outstanding signing.

So Hayne goes on Fox and bleets on that we can't fit him under our cap and all of a sudden we are in a Salary cap crisis?

Has the club said anything about us having trouble with our cap? Or are we just taking Haynes word for it? I'm sure he has access to all the Eels financial records and accounting software to be able to know what our cap position is.

You didn’t have a problem when they were signed. You’ve only started this cap management diatribe when we’ve started losing.
This is bang on. When Norman's deal was done he was in peak form and we were giddy, GIDDY to have that deal done. We were also very happy to sign Moses (unless you were dumb enough to buy into the tigpies rubbishing him).

You lot need to chill and stop wildly speculating until something concrete comes out.

Strides the deals were back-ended mate. Norman is on $940k this year. Moses about $750K. That's why we are in the shit and why we can't offload them. I also hear Jennings is on $800K.

I dont think 940k or 750k is that bad considering the rise in salary cap and the price for that position.

MJ was signed when we where cheating and cocky. Yes poor.

We proved to have the worst roster this season. This will mean an even worst roster next year.

Happy Days at this club. What a f**king joke.

There are 8-10 players I would happily piss off to accommodate Jarryd. You guys are all nuts being glad he is going. He was THE only shining light in a shitful season.

Lane,Ferguson,Jnr wont improve us?

Mennings contract if as reported is $800k, then yes that’s a stupid f**ken deal!!

But if reports are correct that Norman is on $940k this year as reported, it’s probably close to market rate for a quality half. When Norman re-signed in 2016, he was nearly leading the Daily M’s, a future QLD rep and close to an elite half....

Coming last means your roster performed the worst out of all others. It doesn't make it the worst roster. If our roster was really shit then most people would have predicted us to perform poorly.

The 2018 season prediction thread is proof that no-one on here thought we had the worst roster. Your above statement is revisionist history at its finest.

His form was great when got on the field at the end of the season. No-one is going to question that.

However, you can't just not pay 8-10 players in your squad. If you get rid of 8-10 blokes you need to find another 8-10 that you pay. With those obligations in mind, we should be sensible and measured in our negotiations with Jarryd. If that means saying no to a figure that is significantly higher than his market value then so be it.
The betting agencies have us towards the lower end of the 2019 ladder so does that mean we have a pretty ordinary roster next year?

Nearly every side makes poor signings.

Hayne come good in his return around rnd 14. We still where flogged 4 times in those remaining games.
Fact is he played 13 full games. Id say he performed very well in 7 games this season of the 13. And ok in the others. Not poorly.

If he was 27 then I would be dissapointred. But at 31 the averages mean he is more likely to be injury prone and less likely to be a star performer. Sure he can be, look st slater. But hey Jennings is a few months younger. Why are everyone dismissing he can regain form. In 2017 MJ was playing at a level where he was in the top 5 centres in the game.

Its definitely not as good as the better teams but I never said that it was.

It isn't the worst though which is the original point that was made and the one that I responded to. Thanks for providing further evidence to help me counter this point.

Love your work MEely.

It’s not just about playing well. It’s about what he brings to this team which has had a soft underbelly for the best part of 30 years.

He is a peanut and should have been rissoled many seasons ago.

Coaching and being able to inspire and maintain consistency amongst the playing group has been mediocre which equates to poor form/discipline and players regressing.
