If we had the worst roster why were we among the premiership favourites at the start of the year?

It's almost the same side that won 16 games last year ffs. Half our team underperformed. It might be all the coach's fault but there is nothing wrong with the talent in our squad.

And who was the only back who did not underperform? The one we are getting rid of.

It’s not just about playing well. It’s about what he brings to this team which has had a soft underbelly for the best part of 30 years.

He is a peanut and should have been rissoled many seasons ago.

You referring to Norman?

If so don’t forget he was re-signed in 2016. We just had the salary cap issues and BA was working without a board, CEO, chairman, Footy manager, basically the club was f**ked. Additionally our star half signing Foran had a meltdown and left.

Additionally Norman was playing good, so we really had no choice but to re-sign him, did you really want to enter 2017 without a halfback ?

Imagine the f**ken out cry on here and among fans if we started 2017 with Robbo and Gutho in the halves while Norman lines up with the panthers or the dragons?

But anyhow any decisions made during 2016 probably weren’t made within the most thorough process which considering the circumstances is not unexpected.

Coaching and being able to inspire and maintain consistency amongst the playing group has been mediocre which equates to poor form/discipline and players regressing.

Apart from 2018, BA has done fair job in that apartment.

You don’t think BA did a decent job in 2014-2015 rebuilding the side from 2 wooden spoons into a competitive side on the fringe of the 8, all with a halfback he didn’t rate and a our star play walking out?

While in the 2016/17 he lead the side to enough wins to make the 8 in both years!!

So he did build the side nicely for 4 years.

But yes I agree 2018 was a f**ken disaster and unacceptable!!

Players aren't robots. Sometimes shit is going on inside their heads that are bigger issues then football.
You seen like an old school emotionally strong man. Not eveyone is the same. Rare occasions I just cant be f**ked working or putting in any effort. Dont matter what someones says to me it wouldnt change my attitude for those off periods.

My mail is we offered him the same aa this year and he wants about 50% more. Also some disagreement on the length of contract.

Heard we may even put a deadline on signing it to him.
Yeah my guess was always we want him at $500k/yr for max 2 years and he would want $750k/yr for 3+. I don't find it surprising there's an article saying "he could earn up to $750k playing French Rugby".
Sorry Jarryd, it's not that we don't need you at that value, it's we can't afford you at that value

Don’t you agree Gaz? We could have sacked him plenty of times and chose not to which has now bitten us on the arse.
I’m sure the thought has crossed BA’s mind but I don’t know how easy it would have been to punt him or how genuine the interest was from other clubs. Also, how good are the alternatives? There aren’t a lot of great halves.

That said, I don’t rate him and would prefer he wasn’t around.

Pou hates scapegoats, Unless their name is Jarryd Hayne Or they help him to try and win an argument on the internet. Then it’s open f**king slather merkins.
Who's blaming Hayne you silly merkin. I just pointed out he hasn't made us successful. He's not the only one, but he's obviously not worth what he thinks he's worth. Not to us anyway.

What logic??? Norman and Mennings are on heavily backend contracts. Two of our worst performing players, why do you think no one wants to touch them with a barge pole???

Pou believes our cap is fine, just like he believes everything is fine at the club.
No, something is obviously wrong. I just don't believe it's our salary cap.

Meanwhile we win just over a third of the previous year's games and you suddenly think everything is f**ked. The fact is you don't know what's wrong at the club, just like the rest of us.

Mennings contract if as reported is $800k, then yes that’s a stupid f**ken deal!!

But if reports are correct that Norman is on $940k this year as reported, it’s probably close to market rate for a quality half. When Norman re-signed in 2016, he was nearly leading the Daily M’s, a future QLD rep and close to an elite half....

You factor in all the positives, did you intentionally leave out all the negatives?

Norman is a decent player on his day, but he’s far from being a Thurston or Cronk.

He is on about the same money as Cronk next year, not on overs at all.....

Wasn't it Hayne who wanted to wait til the end of the year to negotiate his contract?
How did we have the roster for next year sorted before he came back, is he claiming we had Jnr and Blake signed already?

The club got on with it, Hayne missed the boat. If he wasn't in a hurry to negotiate during the season then he obviously wasn't showing the club he was very interested in the first place.

Of course Norman has negatives, but halves cost a fortune, no matter what the negatives are. Gee look at Carney, clubs were still looking at him this year.

Just look at Hunt who is on $1million, Taylor is on by reports close to a million, all similar quality players to Norman. Gee the roosters signed the broncos junior Nikiroma a year or 2 ago for $350k a year.

I rate Norman. He is silky smoothe running the ball, has a elegant pass and a nice short kicking game. I see Moses with a potential higher ceiling but Norman as a safer bet. Moses is far more rocks and diamonds.
With Hayne not around however I like the idea of Norman at fullback and Brown being blooded. It brings an extra playmaker in and he would not have to do a lot young Brown.

1 Norman
2 Ferg
3 MJ
4 Guth
5 Jennings/Bevan/Hoffman/Sivo/Parry/Dunster

6 Moses
7 Brown
