Only an idiot would refuse a mid-season extension.
When exactly did we offer to extend him mid season?

And for how much? Or does the amount not matter? When exactly did we offer to extend him mid season?

It's all through this thread that Jarryd didn't want to negotiate mid-season, opting to "make a decision on his future" at the end of the year. When exactly did we offer to extend him mid season?
oh right because of that thing forever ago... nice one..But remember; Apparently it's not a pay cut if he gets paid less
I don't know how marketable he is post footy. He's too dumb to go into media or coaching. He might get some advertising work, possibly even a bit more as you suggest by sticking with Parra, but it's a big if.If Hayne really wants to stay, he could just sign a 2 year deal for $200k in 2019 and $600k in 2020. Gives him an average $400k yeah not a huge amount, but still a decent amount.
It’s not like other clubs are jumping in to offer him $500k plus deals.
Gives him the chance to finish his career with the eels - what is marketing worth to him to finish with us and the next 20-30 years of his working career?

Regarding the article though, I don't think that strongly implies he'd been made an offer. It could still be he wanted to stay with the eels but knew at that point that they didn't have the money yet. He said that last week or so.
Maybe so, but it seems like the sort of thing we wouldn't attempt under Max.Obviously we have no idea if an offer was made, chances are there was no offer. But he wouId have to expect by not negotiating early he may not get what he wanted.
What stopping us from employing him post his nrl career in the “marketing department” on a $75k retainer for 4 years (there’s a $300k top up for his contract), other clubs employ players post retiring. And he is potentially the greatest eel ever so it’s not like we are “cheating” the cap. Plenty of things he could in marketing which doesn’t involve brain work.
The 50 idiots holding the club to ransom would try to get Hayne a place on the board.I don't know how marketable he is post footy. He's too dumb to go into media or coaching. He might get some advertising work, possibly even a bit more as you suggest by sticking with Parra, but it's a big if.

That’s a shit philosophy.“My philosophy in life has always been everything will look after itself and I won’t change that.

Yeah, how’s that going Jarryd. That’s a shit philosophy.

There’s somewhere in between ‘completely lazy and irresponsible’ and the polar opposite that you are explaining.Yeah, it is much better for your health and happiness to stress out over everything, especially things that you have no control over. Me? I love waking up at 2 o'clock in the morning and freaking out for the next hour about minor work matters.
Possibly but I doubt the club will give us accurate info on thisI reckon when Hayne said that he'd already been told that players needed to be moved on before they could offer him a reasonable amount.
