It is actually really lucky that Bush got injured so Hayne got chances to show that he wasn't totally out of place. Specialist punt/kick returners have certainly been cut before for one mistake.

Will be interesting to see if Davis climbs over him at #2 RB next week.

The media you need to pay attention to haven't even started going over it yet.

Pay no attention to the national US media... It's the local media in the Bay Area who will have a good feeling for it.

I regularly listen to the game radio station because I'm a Raiders fan.. But they cover both the Raiders and the 49ers closely... Listen to there 3 or 4 podcasts 2moro and you'll probably get an idea about how it's going down...

Pittsburgh Steelers. They were absolutely dominated on defence by the Pats last week. It's very feasible that the 49ers offense looks good in that game.

How did that go today?

Seemed somewhat positive... They had Matt Maiocco on the morning show who explained that they pulled Hayne from PR purely because when Bush went down they needed him to focus on being a back up RB and the pass protection aspects.

They said the decision this week will be if Davis is ahead of Hayne... If Davis backs up Hyde then Hayne will be the punt returner... If Hayne is backing up Hyde then Ellington will go into PR.

I think the short turnaround this week has probably helped him...

if they're already willing to make him the #2rb then that's great news for hayne.

he should get better every week. i like how he already knows where to sit when he runs out of the backfield as a safety valve in the passing game. he made a couple of nice runs as well.

Steelers are a young athletic D. they've lost plenty of experience both in terms of the D co-ordinator and players like Polamalu and that championship winning core of LBs who can read the formation and the developing play. opening game showed that merely having fast players doesn't mean much. A master like Brady can pick an inexperienced defence apart.

i dont think you can't put the niners offence in the same league as the Pats..................plus, it's in Pittsburgh at 1pm ET. That means it's 10am for pacific time zone teams. Having been taking part in NFL tipping comps for a long time now, the obvious trend I have found is west coast teams always struggle when playing the 1pm game on the east coast.

Yes, the Hayne Plane has been photographed with pop princess Dinah Jane Hansen from the American girl group Fifth Harmony, and, in the social media world, that's enough to set off a frenzy.

The photos causing the stir are of Hansen and Hayne posing together in the tunnel of the 49ers' Levi's Stadium, likely after Monday night's victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

There might be a bit of an age difference between 18-year-old Hansen and 27-year-old Hayne, but they do have South Pacific backgrounds, with the pop star being of Tongan descent and Hayne's father being Fijian footballer Manoa Thompson.

Hansen became part of Fifth Harmony during the second season of the TV talent show X Factor USA.

49ers released RB Kendall Hunter with an injury settlement.

Huner was Frank Gore's primary backup from 2011-13, but hasn't been the same since shredding his knee in the 2013 NFC Championship Game. Hunter is still only 27, but teams will have to be convinced he's at something close to 100 percent before they bring him in for a workout. Hunter owns a strong 4.6 YPC on 262 career totes.

Yeah that's great news for Hayne. But it is a reminder of how quickly he can be out on his arse if he keeps making mistakes.

This here is the best news for anyone following Hayne... This was probably one of his biggest obstacles as a RB coming from RL with no previous American Football background.

If he's picked up pass protection like everyone else I see no reason why he can't be RB2.

Given he played for Parra though a relationship is imminent.
