The original charges in layman's terms were a gang rape charge. The additional two charges relate to 'rape'. This indicates to me part of the victims story maybe difficult to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

In the next moves, the original charges will be dropped or if not they will fall short at trial and the case will continue under the new charges.
You are sprouting absolute rubbish so best you just wait and see how it unfolds or you will continue to make false assumptions.
The reason why there are now extra charges is because the "incidents" that "allegedly" occurred are now crystallised in the DPP's mind and each offence carries its own set of penalties instead of all being rolled into 1.
If found guilty on multiple charges the judge may decide to have them served concurrently or indeed split them and have some concurrent and some stand alone thus making the overall sentence even longer.
The Pell sentencing clearly showed that exact set of circumstances and the judge's thought process in how he arrived at the decisions.

Seriously man, learn to f**king read..

“In court today, an extra two counts of the same charge were laid against de Belin, relating to the same alleged victim.

One additional charge of the same count was also made against the junior player.”

From here: https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2019...harges-over-alleged-rape/11159636?pfmredir=sm

So it’s now 3 charges of (as you put it) gang rape for Jack and 2 for Sinclair.

Everything you’ve been spouting today is factually incorrect.

Let’s at least be clear here. This is not a sex tape, drink driving or a fight in a bar it a charge of gang rape and rape. Whether he appeals or whatever if he is found guilty he’s likely to be doing it from the clink. For the cops to lay charges means they believe there is a case. So many tragedies in this including that JDB May never play again. Am I missing something?

In fact, not clear at all.

May simply mean they have finally got round to dissecting the alleged victims statement and are particularising all allegations.
Clearly you are a smart man who understands the meaning of pink text

Simple question. Why haven't we used the compensation for JDB yet? We are hardly in a position to wait around given the injuries that have compounded this whole sad saga. Can't our officials do anything right anymore?

Yep, the application should have been lodged well before.
And it seems the club, "hoping" a win against the NRL stand down policy, has cost them time and money.

Time to secure a player, and money as the compensation has been determined on a pro-rata basis.

Re the compensation for JDB. What happens if you sign someone for a year if JDB is cleared. Are you then forced to offload the compensation signing or get into cap trouble?

Ive been wondering why the Panthers haven't signed anyone yet either, two clubs given special dispensation to sign players and neither have taken it up yet, there must be a reason. A three legged cat would've been an improvement to Penrith for most of the year, we literally do not have any fit centres in our top 30 and we still haven't used it.

And then look how simply Souths went about replacing Inglis. No doubt the club has its reasons and excuses but at the end of the day there are those that just make things happen and those that can't.

Here's my take.

You play the cards you have been dealt . We do not know a.) the time frame of JDB's criminal case and b.) what the NRL stand policy has or hasn't determined in terms of a " non-guilty" verdict.

Standing by doing zip, makes no sense. I am hopeful that in the past months the club have approached the NRL with the valid question you raise. We are not privy to that. But standing idly by and letting a season rot, when we are so depleted is insanity.

We have not be compensated with money.
The club has been given approval to spend their own money.
I think the club didn't apply at the start of the year because it doesn't have half a million to spare.
They might not have 240k to spend.
Maybe that's why they could be looking at Martin he would only cost 60k.
Just maybe no one want to come to the club..

George, mate, we have been given cap dispensation. It was reported by Brent Read that a few weeks back it was closer to 280k. Now, as you say, do players want to come under these circumstances ? I don't know. But the longer it took for us to apply for this relief the less we had to spend.
