I'll have to agree with you there. If the CC gets a team, there's little chance of it being the Bears. VERY little.

same, the sponser logo ruins it though, but a good looking jersey.
is it a re-hash of an old design?

I think it was their away jersey in the early 90's
IMO jerseys look better with simple designs like that.

Hi All.

First of all, this is my very first post.

Secondly, I have been a Raider's fan since 1983 (when big Terry Fahey became a Raider from the Roosters).

Anyway, just wanted to mention that I viewed both Raider's jersey's yesterday and on the back at the top it said "The Tradies..." which is referring to the Union (CFMEU) that is the major sponsor of the Raiders.

All the best,

It is your second post to be exact;-)

Love the new Raiders away jersey, but not a fan of the big white patch on the home jersey.

What confuses me is that it would appear from the picture posted that we just had to have the white patch because, I dunno, it's part of the corporate logo or something. But when you look at the new training gear (Alan Tongue on the left):

The logo is changed to blend in nicely. Why couldn't they have done that for the jersey?

Because somebody in charge of that kinda thing is an idiot.
But I agree with you Skeepe, they should have just the logo minus the white background on the jersey. It would look SO much better.

Or maybe because the logo is more difficult to read on a green background than it is on a white one? Also, the CFMEU logo includes the colour green.

The training shirt skeepe showed us is a perfect demonstration of this - it is difficult to identify the logo without the white background. Obviously this is compounded by the fact that the logo is quite small in that particular picture but the thrust of my argument still stands. The nature of the logo - with lots of different colours and relatively fine detail - demands that it be placed on a white background for clarity.

Sponsors pay for their images to be seen clearly, not just to have their name on the jersey.

Meanwhile I got to see the new St. George Illawarra jersey for the first time today. I should've taken a camera but alas.

Some points.

1. The V is definitely longer and by a significant margin. I'd say something like 20-30%. The goatee is much more significant and the NRL/Saints logos no longer sit right down near the bottom of the V.

I'm not sure whether the average person in the street would notice it, but it's plain to see the difference/improvement when you have the old and the new jerseys sitting next to one another.

2. Two other changes to the front of the jersey. Firstly, we have the new Telstra Premiership logo. I realise that it isn't very popular around LU but I reckon it looks much more professional and integrated. I still have to get used to the blue though. The new logo is also smaller than the old one and balances quite nicely with our logo on the other side. Secondly, the "bank" text of the sponsor's logo is a little smaller than it used to be.

3. The St George Bank logo on the back is quite different compared to last year. Check out the picture in the first post of this thread to see. Also, the OKI bit seemed to be a slightly different tone than it used to be. Still red, but a brighter shade.

4. Red away jumper appears unchanged except for the new St George Bank text.

Although the blue logo isn't popular, the blue is less of an eyesore than the bright orange of the old logo. Although I wasn't too worried (we already had orange on our Fone Zone logo), it's good to see the orange has almost disappeared.

The new logo is growing on me, it's looking a lot better now than I thought it would, although I'd still prefer the one that was used in 1998/99.

I like the new Raiders away strip! Reminds me of the mid 90s "Canberra Milk" sponsored jerseys!

Good change made to the NRL Telstra Premiership logo. I'm glad it's got more of the original NRL logo and less of a Telstra tailor made patch!

Why do they insist on not having a collar?

not so sure about this one.....it looks sh*t without the collar and it all looks a bit too "busy" with the big ass Strathfield sponsor on the sleeves!

Parramatta Strips for 07

WTF? Why do they insist on a third kit? Jeebus, soon we'll all end up like English soccer teams and having 3 or 4 jerseys!

Parra fans....can you tell me which is their primary strip? I'm gessing its the yellow cos I seldom see the blue make an apperance.

Exactly. IIRC they wore the black vs Canberra @ Canberra this year:

Those black jerseys look horrible i reckon. Go back to a predominately white alternative jersey....its not like they wear them that often anyway!

Must say I'm not too fond of the black on the away kit at all. At least it actually looks like South Sydney though, not that crap we had to endure this season.

Away kit still looks iffish to me bt I think all up the new home kit looks pretty schmick!

XXXX Back
Wednesday November 01, 2006

It has been a relationship that has spanned more than 15 years and today Castlemaine Perkins, brewer of XXXX, and the Ergon Energy Brisbane Broncos, announced a new sponsorship deal taking the partnership through to the end of 2011.

Mark Powell, Castlemaine Perkins Regional Director, said the announcement cemented the commitment of XXXX to rugby league in Queensland and, in particular, its support of the 2006 premiership winning Brisbane Broncos. "We're absolutely delighted we have been able to partner with the Broncos for another five years. We've had a great relationship over many years and look forward to working with the Broncos on a range of activities in the future," said Mr Powell.

In 2006, XXXX BITTER initiatives in support of the Broncos included the creation of a 300 seat 'fan grandstand' at a Broncos training session in the lead up to the opening NRL match of the season; the 400-strong XXXX BITTER Black Zone team cheering on the Broncos at every home game at Suncorp Stadium; and the XXXX BITTER Commemorative Can, celebrating the Broncos sixth grand final victory.

Broncos managing director, Bruno Cullen, said the renewal of the XXXX sponsorship typified the outstanding relationship and commitment between the two Queensland icons.

"Again, Castlemaine have made a big commitment to the Broncos, and we are delighted to have them back with us for a further five years," he said.

"XXXX first came on board back in 1993, the year of our second premiership. Since then both XXXX and the Broncos have become synonymous with rugby league, and market leadership.

"And recently when it came to renewing this association, it was simply a matter of sitting down and discussing how we can go forward even more successfully, as a combined team. Working with XXXX has been an absolute pleasure and I have no doubt that we will be partners for many, many years to come."

XXXX BITTER is also a sponsor of the Queensland Rugby League, the Queensland State of Origin team and the North Queensland Cowboys.

You can bet your arse the Broncos will have a 20th anniversary kit for next year as well......

I'm guessing a celabratory one like the Lang Park reopening in 2003 plus there will be a variation of the logo much like the Raiders this year....

I'm also thinking.... if the Broncos came in in 1988 and are celebrating their 20th year in 07 then should the Storm have their 10th season next year or wait for 2008?

You mean the one that's seamlessly intergrated into every jersey since 2002? :| Hardly a 'tailor made patch'. Now we're back to a ridiculous and poorly designed take on the old bomb logo.

Dodge-o, it only "seemlessly intergrated" into the old strips because we got used to it after half a dozen years of use.

The old logo had nothing to do with the NRL (other than a limited likeness to the trophy and the letters "NRL") and was overwhelmingly a Telstra symbol. It also featured bright orange and an awfully large amount of plain white background.

The new logo offers a compromise between the NRL logo and Telstra symbolism. Whilst most of us are not quite used to the blue we will do so in time. It can't be worse than orange. As an added bonus the new logo is also smaller.

Remember the logo from 98-2001?

Its like that but with the more recent Telstra logo "worked in".

Looks good.
