Eagles reach new heights
Erina coach Mark Horo believes his side's 22-point victory against Chester Hill was their best team performance of the Jim Beam Cup season.
The Eagles are 6 points away from fifth place after hammering the Rhinos 38-16 at Erina Oval. The home team led 16-6 at half-time and by only six points with 30 minutes to play.
But with halfback Hayden Karena calling the shots, Erina powered home in what was a must-win match.
``At 16-6 at the break it was a game we needed to go on and win and win well,'' Horo said.
``The pleasing thing was that when they scored early in the second half we didn't panic. Good sides don't panic.
``We played out our sets and went on to win it comfortably.
``There were no stand-out performers but we had no bad players either.''
Meanwhile, The Entrance suffered a heart-breaking defeat against Cabramatta at Bateau Bay Oval. Star playmaker Adam Tippett landed a penalty after the siren to clinch a 20-18 win for the Sydneysiders.
With scores locked at 18-18 with less than 15 seconds to play several Tigers players rushed out of the line to prevent Tippett from taking a shot at field goal.
But the referee ruled the players were offside and awarded a penalty.
``I feel sorry for the boys, we didn't deserve to lose, especially like that,'' shattered Tigers coach Jamy Forbes said.
``A draw would have been a fair result.''
