Reds 30 Wentworthville 10 is correct. Reds were behind 10-4 at half timr.

Well done reds. ;-)

but do Wenty actually have " Any " signings /players in their NSWRL cup Parra/Wenty side or are they all in this comp ?? Wonder if Parra spares any players for this side at all ?

Their spot on the ladder would suggest they are getting f/all I would figure though.

Wenty have about 8 players in the State Cup team but maybe the leagues club is doing bad because this is the worst Wenty JBC team for years and years.

Was thinking the pockets are dug deeply this season for sure.
Do they get a good crowd.

I have seen a couple of games and they get about 300 to the games. Lot of guys retired at the end of last year and if the guys that went up to State Cup and the other new signings were playing Jim Beam they would still be a top 5 side. Cant see them winning games with the current team.

Returns may be an issue to get that money spent back. But they have always had a good leagues club I suppose.

They are going very strong in premier league though.

Final score WA Reds 28 - Windsor Wolves 36

A gallant effort by the Reds with the scores being 28-30 with 5 minutes to go. Ultimately the Wolves size and power up front won them the game whilst the Reds 3/4 line tore holes in the Wolves defence all game. Entertaining game and a crowd of around 1500 watched.

Wenty lost again. Boustani, Cleaver, Horo and Betham dropped down from the State Cup team but it was all over by half time with Mounties in front 28-6. the second half was better and a few tries made it a respectable 41-24 loss against the top team.

Jim Beam Cabramatta 38 Belrose 30 after Cabra lead 26 - 0
From the Cabra web site

The Cabramatta Two-Blues turned in a near perfect first 40 minutes to lead 26-0 at the break in their round 6 clash with the Belrose Eagles at New Era Stadium. Although taking their foot off the pedal in the second forty, they never really looked like losing despite three late tries to the Eagles, making the scoreline respectable at 38-30. In a remarkable turn around in form, dumped back rower Ross Brown earned a recall into the starting line up and didn't disapoint, scoring two tries and making numerous line breaks on his way to claiming Players Player and Man of the Match Honours.
Coach Len Stacker highlighted the spirit and comraderie of the Club in turning around some mixed form of recent weeks, confirming better things are still to come. Other players to impress were Brett Rimmer and Si'ikeaha Teaupa, while Jonathon Russell made a successful return from injury scoring a try.
Tries - Francis Vaiotu (2), Ross Brown (2), Louis Vaiotu, Si'ikeaha Teaupa, Jonathon Russell Goals - Aaron Fluke 5 from 8.

The Two Blues take on Mounties @ Mounties Sports Ground on Mothers Day, next Sunday, May 11th at 6:30pm. Treat Mum and get out to the ground to support the Cabramatta boys.

Understrength Reds lost to Sydney Bulls 50-24

From WA Reds Website: www.waredsrugbyleague.com.au

Reds go down to Bulls in Sydney

An undermanned Bartercard Reds were unable to make an impression on the competition’s second placed Sydney Bulls on Saturday. The Reds had to concede their biggest loss for the season going down 24 to 50.
The game started well with both sides playing hard football for the first 15 minutes, but a couple of penalties and skill errors opened the door to the Bulls who managed to take control from then on. The Reds were never able to shut down the opposition.
At half time with 12 points on the board, the Reds still believed they were in the game even though Sydney had put on a commanding 28 points. Based on their fitness and efforts in the past few weeks, it was always possible. The message from coach Chris Dever at half time was to stick to the game plan and maintain the concentration to put pressure back on the Bulls. Their ability to get back into the game relied on playing a solid 40 minutes and to manage a relentless Bulls’ attack.
The second half unfortunately continued in the same vein with the team unable to complete full sets of six and coming up with simple handling errors to turn the ball over. There were also some crucial tackles missed which allowed soft tries to the opposition.
Missing two of their most experienced players in captain Shane McMenemy and centre Heath Egglestone the Reds were unable to capitalise on the opportunities they did create.
“We have the players capable of making big inroads into the competition”, a disappointed Dever explained, “but we need to eradicate the errors and lapses of concentration which continue to dog us.”
“The ability to defend our mistakes is critical to getting the winning formula right.”
In a defeated side, Tyrone Coppedge crossed the line twice for the Reds with tries also to Ryan Dickson and Isaac Thomas.
In the absence of McMenemy, hooker Thomas stepped up well to control the plays and was easily the side’s best player.
Training this week will need to start to look at the ball management and tackling skills of the side. It is hoped with the return of key players and the game against lower placed Campbelltown Eagles, the Reds will return to the winning list and keep them well in touch with the top four. Currently they have a 3 win – 4 loss record.
The home game will kick off at Members Equity Stadium at 7.30pm next Saturday night.

I see in Big League that Chester Hill will have 6 Newtown State Cup squad players tonight against Cabramatta. Don Thompson, Tevita Folau, Albert Hopoate, Jai Ayoub, Steve Meredith and Khalid Deeb are all in the side as Newtown have a bye.

It will be interesting to see how long the Rhinos can stick with Cabra with these guys in the side.

This will mean that a total of 10 Newtown players have played in the 2 games when the State cup was having a bye as Deeb, Rhys Pritchard, Tosh Laiseni, Ben Green and Hep Cahill played against the Bulls.

TWO BLUES & RHINOS CANNOT BE SEPERATED

From the Cabra web site
The Cabramatta Two-Blues came from behind to snatch a hard fought 22 all draw with the Chester Hills Rhinos in Round 8 of the Jim Beam Cup at Terry Lamb Reserve. The Rhinos, who were boosted by the injection of 6 players from the Jets Premier League Team who came back to play Jim Beam Cup because there side had the bye, led 22-16 with 5 minutes remaining before fullback Sammy Aiga scored a 90 metre effort to lock the game up. Centre Allan Burns appeared to have snatched the win with what appeared a fair try, although the officials ruled he lost the ball over the line.
In a bitter blow for the Two-Blues, in form hooker Scottt Jones was injured early in the first half and the side missed his creativity around the rucks. Si'ikeaha Teaupa, Aaron Fluke, Richie Parker, Casey Ellis and Sammy Aiga were all mentioned as the teams better performing players.
The Two Blues return home to New Era Stadium on Saturday, May 24th at 5:30pm against the Southern Sharks.

From the WA Reds website:

Date: 18/05/2008Reds continue to learn hard lessons

Another winning opportunity slipped by at Members Equity Stadium on Saturday night with the WA Reds at home giving up too many balls to allow the previously winless Campbelltown Eagles to take the game 36 to 22.
As with the Windsor Wolves two weeks prior the visiting side enjoyed the comforts of the stadium and Perth hospitality too well and made sure they took advantage of the opportunities given to them.
The Reds after giving up a nil to 14 start got back into the match to their credit, and there were some good signs early on as the set plays started to work and they fought their back into the game.
Shane McMenemy was able to feed off some telling passes to set up tries through Jon Phipps and Isaac Thomas. The at the 24 minute mark Josh Irving in his first game back from injury was on the field for just 2 minutes when he crossed the line for a welcome 4 points which was converted by Mick Kestel to give the Reds a 16 to 14 lead.
The game turned into a bit of an arm wrestle for a while and there were good signs from the Reds but they were unable to capitalise and finish off the sets needed to make inroads on the scoreboard.
The boys then relaxed a few mintues before the break to allow another 6 points to the Eagles.
Steve Gherardi provided some grunt straight after half time with some strong work up front which allowed a try from dummy half to Ben Lindegaard which Kestell again converted to wrest the lead back after 4 minutes.
That was the last score for the Reds as they managed to give up penalties and drop balls allowing the pressure to build against them.
The two telling tries for the Eagles came at the 23 and 26 minutes marks when they lobbed kicks onto the try line only for the ball to be given up by the Reds and the Eagles being able to cross the line too easily.

The final score line of 36 to 22 against the Reds will mean some more soul searching for the club as they try to build a reputation in the Jim Beam Cup competition.
While they can look at the skill errors that have marred recent performances, it is an important part of their learning curve that they adjust to the tempo of the game and build to play a full 80 minutes and not rest no matter what stage the game is at.
The management feel the ability is there, but it is the intensity of the group which has to lift to become more consistent.
The team now travels for the next two weeks, before returning to play at home for 4 out of the following five weeks.

Notice that all the Chester Hill points were scored by Newtown players:

Tries: Ben Green 2, Albert Hopoate, Tevita Folau
Goals: Ben Green 3

Green played instead of Ayoub.

The 1 point moved Cabra up into 5th place
