Reds 28- Mounties 34. Reds were leading 28-16 with 30 to go but Mounties mounted a come back (excuse the pun) The halfbacks for the Mounties were outstanding and by far the best scrumhalf I've seen so far in the comp.

BULLS PREVAIL IN A THRILLER

The Cabramatta Two-Blues turned in a spirited showing in a brutal encounter with Jim Beam Cup Premiership favourites the Sydney Bulls, but finished on the wrong side of the ledger 24-28. Despite losing, the home side showed plenty of courage to come back from a 0-16 deficet after 10 minutes to almost snatch victory. The match itself was of semi-final proportion, with plenty of spite and aggressive football, with both teams playing a man or two short at certain stages throughout the match.
Best players for the Two Blues was Man of the Match Casey Ellis who worked tirelessly in the middle of the rucks, while hooker come halfback Scott Jones also impressed. Captain Chris Yates had possibly his best match of the season, and fullback Sammy Aiga was another player worthy of a mention. In the end, questionable forward pass ruling to a try to the two-blues just before half time and a 90 metre intercept try to the Bulls just after halftime proved the difference.
The match was televised by Fox Sports and will be aired on Fox Sports on Wednesday at 5pm.
The Two Blues venture to Windsor Sporting Complex next Saturday June 14th at 4:00pm to take on Windsor in what is shaping as another cracker of a match.

I Think the Perth Reds are the Best Thing To Happen to the 'JIM BEAM CUP'.. Competition..in a Long Time.. &.. in my opionion They will be the success story of the season.. not only are They very Competative..but I Believe the JBC Competition can only Expand.. & ..Move In a.. Forward Direction..with the Addition of the Perth Reds in this years JBC 2008 Competition...so lets just Hope The.. Management & Administration officials..can keep the Financial Side of the Club.. Sustainable.. If my Cabra Team gets Knocked out or Dose'nt make the JBC semi's..[ Which i pray.. it don't Happen !! ]... &... The Perth Reds make The 2008 Semi's... I'll be Barricking.. &..Supporting the.. REDS.. all the Way !!.................

Cheers Cabra, we seem to be doing ok with crowds of around 2,000 and lots of sponsors on board. On the field our WA players have found the step up tough but will be all the better next year for the experience.

As you say I think the real value is in seeing the possibilities of comps like the JB cup becoming more national with potential teams from NT, Vic, and SA eventually coming in.

As much as I have enjoyed the JB cup I do hope that we won't be here too long as we head upwards towards the NRl but for now it is a great comp and a very enjoyable Saturday night out!

Gotta Hand it to Mounties..its halfway thru the season & their still up there with the Top Three... People must be Thinking.. it was a Fluke or caught them on a bad day.. when we..[cabra]..Handed them their first Lost of the season.. Mind you Their Defense This Year has Impressed alot of JBC Teams this Season.. & I Think they've Structured Their Game on Defence First.. Which is a Formula that is Reaping Rewards ..where as for us..[cabra].. it has been our.. " Demise " & "Downfall "... so far this Season...

Cabramatta suffered their third successive loss on Saturday night, going down 28-36 to the equal first placed Windsor Wolves. A minutes silence in rememberence of former Cabramatta President Allan Meadows who passed away during the week triggered the Two Blues into action, skipping out to an 18-6 lead before a couple of costly errors midway through the first half enabled the Wolves to level the scores at 18 all at half time. The second half started much the same way as the first with the Blues again scoring two tries and holding a comanding 28-18 lead before the Wolves bounced back with two tries of their own on the back of a few simple Cabramatta errors to steal the lead 30-28 with 7 minutes to play. The Blues went close and looked likely of regaining the lead before a simple error from the scrumbase when on the attack ended any chance of victory and saw Windsor seal the two points with a six pointer at the other end of the field.
Although disappointed to have lost, Assistant Coach Corey Ruttle did comend his players on the effort they put in, agreeing that his side had beaten itself with fundamental errors at crucial times in the game. "We were our own worst enemy, everytime we got ourselves into a position to dominate we would make a simple error, and you cannot do that against quality sides," he said. "We had our chances right up to the last 2 minutes before another one of our errors gifted Windsor the final try of the game".
Asked which players impressed in the victory, Ruttle did pay tribute to prop Casey Ellis and backrower Ross Brown who were very strong in taking the side forward, while centre James Trotter also played well scoring a hat trick of tries before breaking his ribs, makeshift halfback Scott Jones directed the side well, and winger Francis Vaiotu again earn't the praise of the coaching staff.
The Two Blues return home to New Era Stadium on Saturday, June 21st at 3pm when the East meets the West as the Two Blues take on the Western Australia Reds.

Will certainly miss Trotter if he has broken his ribs and will be hard to replace.
Shellharbour appear to be a dark horse and are travellinjg along nicely.
From what I hear Mounties win against Chester Hill was all over the minute the ref blew time on.

..Para God..you have summon'd up, what most JBC Teams in that Top 5 Ladder Fear .. in fact, on current Results.. their in 3rd place, they have Dusted up the.. Wolves & The Bulls.. Two of the Heavy Weights.. &.. Favourites to take out The JBC Comp this year!!.. & yes.. you are right, Cabra will miss Trotter out with Broken Ribs.. but one Thing the Cabramatta Two Blues Club is Blessed with.. &..That is the wealth of Talent coming from The Club Juniors.. at Their Disposal.. Rhino's lost their MAIN play maker Ben GREEN for this game, and he scored a try and kicked 6 goals for the Jets in their 42/28 win over Western Suburbs Maggies at C/town stadium last night.

I thought Branigan did nothing worthy of being dropped if he actually was, and was not that bad against Norths the other week. He would have carved em up if he did play I bet.

It is a great arrangement for the Premier league clubs to be able to bring up players from Jim Beam that can put in star performances for them.

But I'm not sure that its so good for the Jim Beam teams. It has destroyed Wenty with all their signings playing P/L and the Beam team are now very weak. Windsor have been going good but as Penrith start releasing players and injuries, this week about 6 that have been playing Beam are in P/L.

I think the Marlins were due for a bad game but they still should have won cause they bring back players from NRL.

I disagree. It can actually be an incentive to go well in the lower comp of Beam, to 'win' a spot higher above in P/league.

Especially if you have 2 teams like a Wenty does. Like Jets did when we made "both" grandfinals in both comps the other year ( 2005 ), before the club got smarter about the financial side of things and pulled their own " complete " side in ther Beam Cup out. Which was costing the club too much money, and thus we achieve the same purpose now, but spend less.

And Rhino's get some quality and dont have to pay for it.

We do, they do, and the quality of footy in both comps is better. The players play better alongside better players, and the crowd gets a better game to watch. All good mate IMO.

your very negative against chester hill arent u
they are a jeckyl and hyde team who play well against the top sides and poor against the lower ranked teams
on there day they are capable of beating any of the top teams but do lack a quality half but its hard as newtown drop a different half a week without a consistent pairing in the halves it makes gelling as a team difficult
and yes luke branighan did play well but it was his experiance and maturity that helped inspire the rhinos to play as well as they did

Mmmm, cant say that you have an argument there with the top teams all having a feeder arrangement with NSW Cup teams.
With the exception of Wenty and maybe CHester Hill all of them seem to be benefiting by the arrangement.
