True ... sometimes.
I saw Brent Webb play for Northcote a few years ago. He was playing hooker over at Bikenhead. He was electric!!! He was a step up from the other guys on the paddock and you knew that he'd be a superstar at some stage.
I think a guy whose primary attribute is evasion and speed is likely to succeed at lower levels, whereas Foran strikes me as an organiser. You can only organise to the level of skill around you I suppose.
I 'spose the thing with Foran is he's an organiser by nature, whereas Johnson/Moon are more your running types. Instinctively I think those two types of player gel well together, and so we could have been blooding Foran this year with a view to next year to have Johnson running at 6 with him. Perhaps even Johnson could have waited an extra year in 20s while we developed Foran into a more rounded NRL half, but now I sense we are at a point of panicking in round 1 2010 and it may not be the best thing for Johnson's overall development but we kinda need his spark. Phil Gould made a point on the Roast that you need speed particularly in and around the ruck and Stace just doesn't have that right now. Lance is creating opportunities with his speed, but isn't executing the final plays terribly well.
What chance for Dan O'Regan to come into top grade soon as a play playing back rowing doubling as an extra five eighth at times? I have a big rap on him. I think some of the basics lack as a full time half (particularly kicking), but he has a very nice short passing game. I'd be very keen to see himself and Tai'i in at the expense of Lilyman and Matulino, Mats only so he regain his optimum running game in the 20s.
