JT and GI to lead NRL support for Adam Goodes by performing Aboriginal War Dance

He was booed, just by specific clubs, wasn't by every single club before. There are always dumb supporters, heaven knows the NRL have them too...I mean do we need to remind ourselves what happened on Good Friday again?

It isn't racist, I mean I can't stand him much, although I have never bothered to boo anyone at a game.

What happened?

No one was bloody threatened by an imaginary spear for crying out loud.

It was just obvious it was targeted at the opposition supporters and it was inciteful.

If he turned around middle of the field and did it to his team mates... wouldn't even have been an issue i'd wager.

Similar to Adebyaor.

Why in your mind was it inciteful? Whereas the Goanna has been embraced?

To Aboriginal? Should he be more humble like Jackie Robinson?

Why is the Haka not inciteful?

When you've already got beef with opposition supporters and you make a point to run over at them and do that, yes its inciteful.

Jarryd Hayne's putting his finger to the St George crowd at Jubilee in the semi final... also would have elicited a fair reaction from the St George faithful that day i would imagine.

Has nothing to do with being humble.

So racist taunts, degrading a race by calling them apes or telling them to go back to the zoo isn't inciteful. These are the things adam is being asked to ignore. These are the things adam is being criticized for reacting to. If he'd just let it slide like the other 70 indigenous players in the afl's have he wouldn't be booed?
But if you do an indigenous dance during the indigenous round and it offends people we can't let that stand?

Adam Goodes is a professional sportsman in a game which essentially is about tribalism and entertainment.

If he cannot handle being booed , he is correct he should quit the sport . I have no sympathy for him frankly as I think he is being too precious and forgetting that the sport is entertainment and is tribalistic.
Racist ?? good god..............

Players are booed because some spectators do not like them for a variety of reasons and the booing taken up by a portion of the crowd becomes fun for the crowd and test the metal of the player. The players i grudgingly admire have ignore the booing and silenced the crowd with their performance.

Goodes viewpoint and decision not to play is a sad reflection on his mental state.

Gallen is booed in Qld and some other club supporters do not like him because of his history of being a grub. Same with Ennis , Bird . Fenech use to be booed by opposition supporters , nothing to do with being Maltese. DCE is being booed now . GI gets booed sometimes , not because of his race because he can be so good.

I do not care the reason why GI does a war dance , I will be more happy when he scores.

are they sure people weren't just booing because AFL sucks arse.

Probably also a damn good reason.

Australians also love to put shit on people. The more you get wound up, the more people will continue to do it, that is the australian way. Wouldn't matter what race you are.

The sheer fact that now he is getting wound up deluxe means they won't stop. Doesn't require racial undertones for that either.

Definitely started off that way. Has moved past that point now.

So, before the ape-calling and doing the traditional dance, he was booed when he did something on the field that the opposition crowd didn't like, which is fair game and happens to most players.

Since these race related incidents happened, he has been booed from first touch to last.
That makes the booing racial to me.

Yeh that's not even close to systematic racism in one code

The point is there are uneducated fans, regardless of what sport. How you stop 'booing' is beyond me. How you can say it is 100% racist is ridiculous too. People have booed plenty of players whether they be Aboriginal or not, in every single sport.

The situation got bad and it was a blight on the whole sport, but it will be sorted within a couple of weeks back to an acceptable level.

As a Broncos fan I have booed goodness knows how many people. Gallen got booed this year worse than Goodes. I feel for Goodes, I do, but it is ridiculous to think it is racism for every single person.

Of course they are and those patrons should be ejected.

But you are making the assumption that every other patron that boo's does it because of the same reason as the patron that gets booted out and banned for making racist comments.

They are not mutually inclusive.

Please change that to, if you do an indigenous dance directed purely at the oppositions fans to make a statement, then yes it's possible for those fans to think you are a wanker.

I've made my point about cultural dances/celebrations. His is the only one to have targeted the opposition fans and subsequently he copped backlash.

Gal hasn't been booed even close to this level.

Even then it's only in QLD , not Australian wide.

Your right stopping it is problematic, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be talked about.

I call B'S on that. Paul Gallen has not been booed loudly every time he has touched the ball in a game let alone in a number of games sequentially, not even by Qlders during an Origin match. If you can dispute that, please tell me when and where it occurred.

As I said to someone else, let me know where you work and I'll get someone to turn up there every day for a few weeks to yell insults and abuse at you and see how you like it since you seem to think there is nothing wrong with it.
