Half the country is racist.
You don't have to say derogatory things or commit a hate crime to be racist.
Australia has a huge problem with passive racism.

Got to love throw away comments like this... And what research have you completed to say that, hand on heart, 50% of this country are racist...? That's a massive generalisation

tell me

which nation should Australia aspire to for its lack of racism?

Australia should inspire to be like the nrl, were all people are welcomed and embraced. We have no problem with players that are muslim, aboriginal, from the Pacific islands, we have a few players of African descent, we've had an openly gay player. Players are judged by how they play and not by the colour of their skins or their customs. Different cultures are embraced and celebrated
Australia should drift away from an AFL ideology of xenophobia, who only allow players of other cultures to play on their terms. They are angered by a stand against racism, they fear an influx of Polynesian players in their game, they think that everyone who goes to the afl should eat meat pies and drive a holden

Australia should inspire to be like the NRL

How many NRL games have you been to?

I'd agree on a whole that the NRL and its management embrace multiculturalism in the game better than others.

But i've been to practically every single ground where games are played in the NRL and i've heard racist insults of players from the crowd.

At Cronulla... both home and away fans
At Parramatta
At Oki Jubilee
At Manly
At Penrith

Everywhere.

If people think that there isn't racism at all in the fans of the NRL, you are kidding yourself.

What does that have to do with the price of eggs in China?:?

my point is that racism exists in every country and as an immigrant myself I can tell you Australia is probably the least racist country that I know of\

so you implying Australia has some sort of unique problem with racism is quite incorrect

The nrl is still light years ahead of the afl on this matter
You still have afl coaches releasing memos to talent scouts to make sure aboriginal players have one white parent so they have the right attitude to make it in professional sport
Still have coaches thinking it's ok to call indigenous players cannibals.
Still have administrators in the game who thinks it's ok to call adam goodes king kong or western sydney the land of the falafel.
When a race issue gets brought out the nrl community is quick to condemn it and shut it down compared to the afl that has let this Goodes issue fester for 2 years.
So yes racism is still an issue in both codes, but the nrl is handling the issue a whole lot better.

I never thought this thread would generate so much heat LMAO. It was more or less just to specify that we as the NRL seem to embrace indigenous culture in our game.

so like nrl immortal Andrew johns then?

Was he not stood down?
Was he not widely condemned for his actions and made to apologize? Was he not explained why what he said was wrong and given the proper training to move forward?

Compare that incident to any time an afl identity says/does something racist
