Me too! But in saying this, it is good that we have an extra half to choose from for at least a while until the case goes to court later this year or whenever it is heard.

OK. The NRL will have to revise the policy as it's no longer the maximum sentence applicable to the charge but the maximum sentence available to the court in which the case will be tried. Pedantic stuff I know, but the point is that the NRL established the policy and is applying it quite arbitrarily. Clubs need to know what the actual policy is because 1st grade players are very expensive assets and investments. The policy shouldn't be so unclear that a player is 100% out one week and 100% back in the next week. I really think it is a mistake for the NRL to wade into legal judgment territory. Why not leave it to the courts? If a guy is found guilty of a serious crime and is given time in the big house then he'll be removed from the game anyway.Amone free to play this weekend.

St George Illawarra playmaker Talatau “Junior” Amone is available for immediate selection after his suspension under the no-fault stand-down policy was lifted.
As revealed by the Herald last week, Amone’s legal representatives petitioned for the NRL to reconsider its stance due to the way his case will now be prosecuted.

Talatau 'Junior' Amone's Dragons teammates have his back even though he could still be stood down by the NRL.
Amone has been unavailable for selection since he was charged over an alleged hammer attack on a roofing contractor in November. The case of the Dragons five-eighth – who was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm in company, destroying property and intimidation – was mentioned in Wollongong Local Court on last Wednesday.
Under the NRL’s rules, players charged with an offence carrying a maximum prison term of 11 years or more are automatically stood down until their court proceedings are finalised.

That was initially the case for Amone, who was facing the prospect of being behind bars for up to 14 years if the more serious grievous bodily harm charge was dealt with in the district court.
However, the matter will be prosecuted in the local court, where the maximum sentence available for the charge is just two years. Even if convicted of all charges, the maximum sentence available to the court is now only five years.

The NRL declared he is available selection for selection ahead of the Dragons naming their team for the first game against the Gold Coast.
No comment as usual but there should be from at least the CEO.

The conduct that lead to his charges. Even if found not guilty it is hard to imagine why he behaved so aggressively. Antisocial behaviour unbecoming of a representative of our club.
So you are assuming hes guilty of the charges before a courts findings? Can you even say that you are sure it was Amone? Can you be sure that if it was him that his actions couldnt be justified?. You want to punish someone that you have no actual proof that he has erred. If he is found not guilty im sure the court will be privy to why the matter turned violent and the reasons behind it. Until then we dont know and he shouldnt be punished unless there is a finding of guilt.
Until we know the full story let’s let it rest.

I agree. I think that we cool things down with this Amone matter and let things take the right course of proceedings and whatever the outcome, then it can be open for discussion again sometime in the future.
