Kaka signs for Real Madrid - radio
MADRID (AFP) — Brazilian playmaker Kaka has signed for Real Madrid from AC Milan in a 65-million-euro deal, Spanish radio station Cadena Ser reported on Tuesday.
Newly-installed Real president Florentino Perez sealed the deal with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani and Bosco Leite, father and agent of the 2007 world and European player of the year, Cadena Ser said.
Kaka, currently in Brazil with the national team ahead of a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, will sign up for five years and a salary worth nine million euros a year, it added.
AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi had hinted at 27-year-old Kaka's departure moments before Cadena Ser had claimed he was indeed moving.
"I do not know if we can keep Kaka at Milan because they (Real) have offered him so much money," Berlusconi was quoted as saying by Italian press agency Ansa.
It comes on the same day as Kaka - who was courted by English Premiership side Manchester City back in January - was telling La Gazzetto dello Sport he had no intention of quitting Milan.
"I'll tell you this for the last time, the very last. I don't want to leave Milan. To the millions of Milan fans, I tell you that I've made my choice. I've said I want to stay. Leave me in peace, please," Kaka told La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.
"I want to continue to win with Milan. And from today, all discussion is over."
Should his transfer be confirmed officially it comes a day after Milan lost their coach Carlo Ancelotti, who agreed to take over as manager of English FA Cup winners Chelsea.
It had been hoped that his connection with Milan would have persuaded Kaka to also move, but those hopes appear to have been dashed.

I was of the impression they would sign one or the other.

I remember reading that Ronaldo said that Manu U was the best place for him to be, then again I dont beleive everything in the media, so who knows ?

How come Real Madrid aren't ruining football with this bid for the player?

I bet you if Man City had made a large bid for Kaka there would be riots in the streets over the death of football. (oh wait, we did, and there were)

When we were trying to sign him, the Milan fans were causing Riots, where are they now?? Just its because its Madrid. I dont get it, they should remember, if it is like reported, only £56 million, they could have had double that off us in January. I would be gutted if i was Milan. Still no riots though??

You make a good point, however I'm not gutted I think its good business.

Latest word is that Kaka has still not agreed and Chelski have put in a last minute bid to match Real, with another player to sweeten the deal.

From a Milan point of view I think its good business. He has had an ordinary season by his standard and after injuring his knee mid season, he was probably less than ordinary at the end of the year.

I think his valuation is based on his form of about 2 years ago when he was ranked No 1 in the world. For that sort of money Milan can get 3 world class players.

He may return to his previous form, so who knows.

Not really good business when you consider MCFC was offering over 100 million pounds. More than any other club will offer. We were basically offering to build them a new stadium.

Anyways, Fish Eel, I don't think you can say Kaka is the best player in the world, and he was obviously interested enough to have met with city and talked terms.

So he didn't agree, whatever. I'm not bitter because we didn't get him, what I am is annoyed at the double standards.

Man U, Chelsea, Real, Milan, Barcelona and all the big euro clubs can spend however much they like, but when someone else tries to spend to spoil the party they don't like it.

Just can't accept that city is a massive club. :)

Maybe if you were, Kaka would have signed. ;-)

Money doesnt buy respect.

He's no where near the best player in the world atm, and there are some doubts over his dodgy knee, thats why I thought it was good business.

Time to trade him in on a newer model.

If his knee is fine and he returns to his glory days, them I'll have egg on my face, but it wouldn't be the first time.

All due respect, the consensus seems to be that while Hughes is still at Man C, you guys may struggle to get these marquee players.

Looking at your current roster I think you guys should have finished higher than 10th.

You mean why aren't Real Madrid being criticized for offering 50 million pounds less then City?

Bit of a disconnect in your thinking perhaps.

In any case, every new world record transfer is greeted with criticism. There was a storm when Inter paid Lazio 31 million pounds for Veiri. Even the Pope stuck his nose in and called it "obscene". Seems like small change now.

I think it's about time for the resident City brigade to start sparing us their victimhood complex.
