With all the info i have found on other forums this is the total number of tickets sold so far. Which brings us to just over 114,000 tickets sold so the average is 6,700 at the moment for the whole World Cup.

Dont forget this information is the best i have found on the net. So in saying that i expect the PNG vs NZ, and PNG vs Eng games to be alot stronger than those figuers.

It's GF week.

It's all 95% of League fans wanna know about right now (I'm part of the 5%).

Once the GF is finished and the couple of days post GF is over, I think we'll see the WC ramped up...

Some of those figures were posted a few months ago by Yakstorm...?

I'm sure they've moved a fair bit since then.

There's been some good advertising since the semi-finals began - including some 2 for 1 deals (which are annoying for us who have already bought tickets) and the Fathers' Day offer.

Some of those figures are quite dated, a bit more of an update:

England v PNG - 3,000
Scotland v France - 4,000
Australia v NZ - 15,000
Tonga v Ireland - 3,200
Samoa v Tonga - 2,100
Fiji v France - 3,200
New Zealand v PNG - 4,200
Scotland v Fiji - 2,800
Ireland v Samoa - 3,100
England v NZ - 7,800
Australia v England 20,000
PNG v Australia - 8,000

Penrith Final - 900
Rockhampton Final - 4,500
Semi-final Qualifier Pool - 3,800
Semi Final (Brisbane) - 22,000
Semi Final (Sydney) - 9,000
FINAL – 44,000

Thanks for the update - those figures don't look too bad.

I'm very surprised to see both Ireland matches outsell Samoa v Tonga - maybe the "Blarney Army" promotion is going great.

Apart from the obvious exception of the Rockhampton game, and possibly the Penrith ranking match, theres going to be 5 figures at all games which is a huge step forward from previous World Cups.

How are merchandise sales going? Should have an idea about the online stuff?

So we have sold 160,000 tickets so far ( i guess this is not including travel packages?) Which works out to an average crowd attendance of just a wisker under 9,000. Looks pretty good that we will get well above the 10,000 average...

2000: 8,123 per match
1995: 17,708 per match
1989-92: 11,991 per match

What do people think about the average attendences? There was a post on TRL about whether 18,000 is too optimistic, I think 18,000 average is very achievable.

It's in Melbourne.
I think they'll get 30K down there as a minimum.

Just on the games at Penrith....I live in Penrith and obviously a lot of my friends do also.
We are planning on going to the games at Penrith(my friends don't follow the International scene is passionately as what i do, yet they still want to attend the matches), I'll also be going to the matches in Sydney and Parra, possibly WIN stadium.
My point is alot of people are aware it's on, and they haven't got their tix yet, I expect a big increase in ticket sale numbers after the NRL GF is over.
That's when we'll see the numbers start flowing, and the possibility of 15,000 average attendance for the whole tournament I think is quite realistic.

Aus V Eng is at Telstra Dome

I think we should get atleast 13-14k average, I wouldn't be suprised if we got over 15k average at all.

Game - Sold - My Prediction
England v PNG - 3,000 - 15,000
Scotland v France - 4,000 - 12,000
Australia v NZ - 15,000 - 45,000
Tonga v Ireland - 3,200 - 12,000
Samoa v Tonga - 2,100 - 18,000
Fiji v France - 3,200 - 10,000
New Zealand v PNG - 4,200 - 16,000
Scotland v Fiji - 2,800 - 10,000
Ireland v Samoa - 3,100 - 12,000
England v NZ - 7,800 - 20,000
Australia v England 20,000 - 50,000
PNG v Australia - 8,000 - 25,000

Penrith Final - 900 - 7,000
Rockhampton Final - 4,500 - 8,000
Semi-final Qualifier Pool - 3,800 - 16,000
Semi Final (Brisbane) - 22,000 - 50,000
Semi Final (Sydney) - 9,000 - 40,000
FINAL – 44,000 - 52,000

I really do think those figures are achievable, let's not forget that alot of people will choose to just turn up on the day.

Victoria really is great for the international game. I think it's disappointing that there is a very real chance that the semi in Sydney won't draw as big a crowd as the pool game in Melbourne. Rugby League is still such a minor sport down there as well.

The final was rightly given to Brisbane but i can easily see a situation where Melbourne is given the next priority for international games ahead of Sydney. It's ridiculous that despite Sydney being the heartland of League, and the game being pretty much a no show in Melbourne that they can still pull better crowds.
