That's 8775 total BTW.

That's a great start for Day 1, given we are in cricket season, people's minds aren't on Rugby League at the moment.
Wait until promotions kick in next year during the NRL season.
We are going to see some excellent crowds.
The NRL really need to flog this event....especially during Origin period when television audiences are at there peak.
The administrators play this right, and they stand to make a bucket load of $$$ for the game and have a great tournament. :D

Copa, although realistically this is impossible, in answer to your question: If hypothetically, all matches were sold-out and recorded their maximum possible attendance for the ground it was held at, that would result in a combined aggregate of 538,563 ppl attending the 18 matches (at an average of 29,220/match).

Although I'm being a little bit optimistic with this statement, obtaining an average (across 18 matches) of 20,000 is possible

Any update on Australia v England @ Telstra Dome in Melbourne ?

With this game being on the same day as the big Racing Derby we can expect a massive influx of people in Melbourne, not to mention the Melbourne Cup only 3 days later.

I wonder how Enlgand Vs Oz is going...

I imagine there will be an initial rush and then a slow trickle until the WC when sales will increase again... I also expect a small rush when non-aussies can buy tickets.

Will this thread become the ultimate nerdy trainspotter-esque thread for the whole year leading up to the WC?

Good stuff!

Yep. Two ticket reports a day minimum from here on in.

How come Aus v Eng isn't on the list?

I only have access to the Ticketek ticket sales site, not Ticketmaster or Rockhampton Events & Venues, so for those two matches we will have to rely on media and so on.

Sales at 9:40pm - 9,496

So we can basically state we are over 10,000 people with Yakstorm's figures not including the 2 matches he stated, via the other ticketing agencies.
Aust v England, would have major attraction so you would have to think 500 tix are gone on that match already given some of the other numbers we have seen posted.

The Australia v England game is on the Sunday
The Derby is on the Saturday before and Melbourne Cup the following Tuesday

Fantastic, I'm so in for that.

This thread is awesome, I love your work Yak. I think I'll make it a sticky.

Overall, that's not a bad result. Good on everyone who bought tickets today. Given the likely problems we may have with the media during the tournament, then it's important we sell out as many as possible pre tournament.

+ I'm going to England vs Aus on 2nd Nov!!! :D (wife thought she would be jetlagged since that will probably be the day we arrive)
Couldn't get the best tickets for the final, they had all sold out!!!
now I just need to sort out travel + accomodation...

We've bought two tickets so far.
Just the two in Brisbane.

But intending to go the GC games and maybe Townsville.
I'd expect the final/semis to sell out quickly.
