I have timed my trip abroad so poorly. I will arrive back in Australia the day after the final has been played, and will probably be on a plane home when the final is played. :(

I'll have to rely on Bigpond for my World Cup viewing, I fear

Yak, where are you?

I'll hopefully be adding to the tally soon. I was just pleasantly surprised to see a big chain email in my inbox from one of my mates trying to get a group together for the big Sydney games. It looks like we've got a few in so far.

England v PNG – 248 (71)
Scotland v France – 82 (7)
Australia v NZ – 1,060 (147)
Tonga v Ireland – 32 (8)
Repechage Winner v Tonga – 38 (4)
Fiji v France – 82 (18)
New Zealand v PNG – 159 (24)
Scotland v Fiji – 42 (4)
Ireland v Repechage Winner – 17 (4)
England v NZ – 215 (17)
Pool (3-2) v (3-3) – 38 (4)
PNG v Australia – 486 (125)
Semi-final Qualifier Pool (1-2) v (1-3) – 236 (36)
Semi Final (Brisbane) – 1,442 (106)
Semi Final (Sydney) – 429 (71)
FINAL – 6,299 (597)

Only around 1,200 tickets sold today, sales today shown in brackets. Naturally again the Final has been the biggest seller with the tournament opener, PNG v Australia, and Brisbane Semi being the next biggest movers.

Considering we are still a year out and many people are only just finding out about the RLWC these are pretty good sales, if we can keep the momentum of a few hundred sales a day going throughout the month, we will be well placed for the start of season spike.

Again remember this excludes corporates, sponsors, people on ticket packages, and so on and so on, and only includes those who have bought individual tickets through Ticketek.

spoke with a number of raiders season ticker holders today.... everyone of them said something along the lines of "It won't sell-out... I'll get my tickets a few weeks before the game"

Thats the biggest problem to be overcome selling for this RLWC, overcoming that mentality. Still if we keep chipping away with ticket sales, all of a sudden grounds will be over half filled, and then all of a sudden matches are 'close to sold out' and people start scrambling for tickets.

We just have to all keep the momentum going and encouraging people to buy tickets and keep the interest up.

Then the Telegraph announces that the games are sold out and the match is played with hundreds of empty seats.

Are there "pacific islander" social clubs, communtiy halls, radio shows that could do with a poster or a talkback show to push games... I don't know about the various communities from the pacific but in some communities word moves real fast and wide about events if they are prompted in the right way (ie in a community way).

I'm working with a certain community at the moment... and if we tell stuff to just a few people word gets out to nearly everyone.. quite amazing really.

I've just purchased 10 tickets for the Opening Ceremony/Australia v New Zealand match at the SFS on Sunday 26th October 2008. The only thing I have to do now is convince 9 people to come with me  . So, if you see a poor sad bastard sitting there with 4 empty seats on either side, that'll be me, Nigel , ...... Nigel No Friends :( It is therefore my mission over the coming year to "sell" the Rugby League World Cup, and the Opening Ceremony in particular, to my friends, so that they'll be asking me to come along. I've got good seats too

I'm a bit surprised by how well the Final tickets are going already. I was holding off buying tickets for the Final until I had sorted out who I would get to come with me, but now it looks like I've missed out on any decent seats. All the A reserve have gone, and the "best available" in B reserve is behind the dead ball line :( , which is a crap position IMO. At the rate they're going , Final tickets will be sold out by the end of the year, so I'd suggest to all to get in as soon as you can.

well done mate, great move.

more fans like you who want our WC to succeed and union would be dead as a dodo.

given our world cup is around 33 years older than unions, its only fitting that our WC is at least as succesful as rugby uglys.

sales looking good no doubt the final looks like a sell out at this early stage again sydney fans very slow to repsond for the semi in particular.
No doubt the superpool matches & the semi final qualifer will draw 15 thousand plus crowds but it's the smaller games that numbers to to get up i was just wondering can a package be purchased will tickets for the smaller games.
Will proably go to france vs fiji when i can afford to buy them, baby on the way & working 70 hours a week makes it tough but judging by sales as long as i buy before january good tickets available.
I would imagine come nrl season there will be big increase in sales from club travel packages will end of season trips & clubs such as canberra, saints & parra advertsing tickets through home games.
The best way to sell event through social clubs copa, is end of season trips great time of year for it much like rah rahs did with ruwc 03.

IF Lebanon beat Samoa this game will sellout without a doubt in the world!

I haven't bought tickets yet... I got a group together for the Aus V NZ game but that's it... Non of my mates are keen to go to any other game unless Lebanon make it.

Out of lebanese V Samoa, Lebanon is the best result for the game without a shadow of doubt, both for crowds in Aust & their domestic development

Hopefully i will be able to go to these games. I'll probably buy semi final tickets soon. But the others won't sell out in the near future so i'll start saving up so i can get tickets closer to the games.

Tonga v Ireland – 38 - Parramatta
Repechage Winner v Tonga – 60 - Penrith
Scotland v Fiji – 47 - Central Coast
Ireland v Repechage Winner – 17 - Parramatta
Pool (3-2) v (3-3) – 54 - Penrith
Semi Final (Sydney) – 466

What is this game? "Pool (3-2) v (3-3)"
Who is likely to play in it?

It is a battle between the team that comes 3rd in Pool 2 vs the team that comes 3rd in Pool 3, so in short its the final for teams 9 v 10.

On Paper you would be tempted to say it will be Scotland v Ireland.

At the moment there appear to be @250 tickets per day being sold for the Final. Even at this rate, the Final would sell out by about the time of the Centenary Test against New Zealand in May next year. As tickets become more scarce, I would expect the rate to pick up, and also just prior to the beginning of the NRL season. So, it may not be beyond the realms of possibility that we will have a sell out before the start of the season. This would then hopefully have a flow on effect to the semifinals and pool games, which presently are moving quite slowly, and are almost stagnant for some games.

BTW, good work Yak, keep these figures coming. :thumn
