Jacob Safiti will be out.
Randell needs to be in.
Mamo seems a few weeks off according to last interview. He has only just started to run. He was brought back too early last time.

We also need cover for the backs. We've always needed it and don't have a fwd who can do so (unless we find one). A back off the bench I reckon. If Gagai plays in around the ruck more like he did today we need someone back there. Same with Uate coming in to try and get a go ahead - we need the outside backs covered.

I'd go Ross fullback, Denniss wing and Gagai back to centre.

Dennis is a Centre. I'd be playing him there over Pat and leave the rest. There aren't any other changes that make the team better imo.

Pauli Pauli coming in somewhere maybe

Ross is a fullback. I can't see much point with sticking with Gagai there while he learns his position when we have Ross. In another galaxy we might be able to see it out with Gagai at fullback. His positional play is poor and he doesn't have the strength. He doesn't have the defensive strength for centre either but at least we could cover him.

Can't do any worse than today

Can we also give Uate a run in the backrow or something???

You cant fault his effort but he is an absolute liability on the edge in defence. Its not like he is the great weapon he was back when MadDog was feeding him the ball, our centres are just not up to it.

The only value he gives is his runs through the middle early in the set, so why not just focus on that?? In the longer run, if he was able to learn the lines, he would be a monster as a fringe runner of a halfs hip...

He added a lot more value than his hit ups on Sunday. He's been good pretty much all year in a severely broken team. How many times has Aku received the ball on his wing this year? It's not his fault our team can't move the ball from left to right without Tariq vacuuming up everything that comes his way (which isn't much). Seriously, how much more can he do that he isn't already doing?

If there's one bloke in our squad that I can safely say has given 100% this year, it's Akuila Uate. I reckon he's just about first picked every week by now. I don't think moving him in field is going to do anyone any good, what we need to do is find ways to get him the ball. When he was at his peak, our entire system was set up to find him space as often as possible. I think we could do a lot worse than revisiting that model at the moment.

At the moment we're a team with a 500k winger, and we can't even get him the ball.

Really? What exactly are we losing by keeping him here to learn? We are going nowhere but the bottom of the table this year so I fail to see why moving him is so critical. We have much more to gain by building Dane as a fullback imo
I want:

1.Nathan Ross
3. Jaeleen Feeney
6. Brock Lamb
17.Tyler Randall

Dane Gagai in NSW Cup

The rest can do what they like...

Lol did you see Feeney in the centres a few games back? Shit, I'm not happy with Danes form but Christ he's probably one of the only guys out there giving 100% and at least looking half dangerous with the ball. Instead you want to drop him for Feeney who can't even star in our NSWCup team

Yes, really!

Long term we might but short term we are severely lacking a fullback that has defensive capabilities and knows his positional play. I'm not saying Ross will work out but he deserves a shot as someone with experience at fullback.
We are carrying enough players to learn as it is. We don't need to carry another who is an experienced player. We need to use Gagai's experience. If wean him at fullback with less rookies in the team I'd go for it.

Make use of Gagai. I'd centre him but bring him in more around the ruck (just about the only way he'd get the ball) and try to slide a fwd across. Ross might be able to cover his defensive weakness from behind.

If I were you guys, I'd have Uate at centre running at Naiqama. Uate's first steps are vastly fastly than Naiqama, who likes to rush up and in when defending with the most piss poor timing. A quick centre could get around him and score a few tries (just like the Dogs did against us and the Raiders and...)

Other than that, a good kicking game will be all you need to topple the Tigers.

Uate in the back row would be worth it just for the laughs you'd get in defence. Would love to see it.

The fact that teams only need to shift the ball through the hands to continually get outside our line has certainly taken the pressure off Aku to take the high ball. Teams don't have to bother with a kick at the end of their sets against us.

He misses 50% of his tackles on smaller blokes, and you think having big blokes running at him is a better option?

He can physically stand up to any other player (he's over 100kg), its his positioning that has him missing a dozen tackles a game...

The thing is, positioning is only an issue when you are on the fringe and have to line up against 5 players spreading it to the wing. In the middle, he would just need to face up to a player running straight (which he has proven he can do).

He added a lot more value than his hit ups on Sunday. He's been good pretty much all year in a severely broken team. How many times has Aku received the ball on his wing this year? At the moment we're a team with a 500k winger, and we can't even get him the ball.

This is what i was saying. He doesnt have Mad Dog feeding him the ball anymore, we have shitty centres who cannot pass to save themselves, and we will have the same centres next week and the week after. The imability to get him the ball on the edge is not going to change...

So we can either leave him out on the edge and lament the lost opportunity he represents, or he can deal with the realty that our team cannot set up a winger and bring him infield to be a weapon somewhere else.

If I were you guys, I'd have Uate at centre running at Naiqama. Uate's first steps are vastly fastly than Naiqama, who likes to rush up and in when defending with the most piss poor timing. Other than that, a good kicking game will be all you need to topple the Tigers.

Uate in the centres is another option (he cant pass for shit, but thats no different from the rest of the team. At least when he holds it, he is dangerous)...

The reason id rather have him in the middle is because he is either leaving soon, so we should be working on establishing the new edge combinations, or he is not, in which case we should be getting our moneys worth from that $.5mil we have sunk into him.

Him in the backrow wouldnt be too different from a fullback chiming in with the attack, except in defence he wont be the liability he could be at fullback....

Uates defence issues are 2 fold. Positioning and technique

He arm grabs and rarely uses his shoulder. That's gonna get him into trouble if he's played in the middle

given our current situation, i'm more than happy for Aku to have a run in the centres. It'd get him much more involved

1.Nathan Ross
2.Dane Gagai
3.Sione Mata'utia
4.Aku Uate
5.Jake Mamo

that would give us some speed on that side of the field at least
