Difference is Stone was an idiot with no idea and it wasn't going to get any better. Brown at least has a clue what he is doing and we are prepared to give him time to do it.

How many clubs are making a profit this year?

Parramatta - even with paying players in TPA's in paper bags in a local park - will lose $8 Million this year. Cowboys - even with prize money from winning a premiership - will lose $1 Million.

The NRL will be quite happy with us only losing $600K in all honesty. A few more sponsors will cover that next year...

Its just so easy really, a couple more sponsors and voila, 600K. The fact is that we've had to cut expenses because we cant raise the revenue.

My rough figures is that its actually 2500 season tickets, we've shed about 7000 members in the last four years, how many season ticket holders do you think we'll shed next year after a season like we've had.

Has anyone actually read my post, I wasn't calling for Brown's sacking but I do think that he needs to account in more detail for the situation we find ourselves in and the pathway forward.

This will be the worst performance by a ARL / NRL for 16 plus years, we will win a single game in a full season.

My frustration remains that the entire "project" has little detail around it, we are asked to commit to something that has no end date. After the 10 plus years we've had, we deserve better that another round of maybes.

Show us the data that things are improving because we deserve that, show us all the good things that are happening behind the scenes.

Accountability was supposed to be our motto, now its a dirty word. Now we are happy to sit back and see what happens, assuming that everything will fix itself over time.

Why shouldn't Brown, the board and CEO be expected to account for the situation in detail, candidly and regularly, considering we'll win one game this year.

It is a source of amazement to me that the same people that bagged Stone mercilessly last year, now allow Brown unlimited latitude and time.

I'm holding Brown to the same scrutiny that I held Stone to, I'm not asking that he be sacked, but I do expect the board and CEO to be far more engaged and challenging for Brown than they were with Stone, just so we don't end up in the same shambles.

Just remember, this time last year, Stone was still coach and the board and CEO were backing him and his strategies, now Brown is flavour of the month. I'm skeptical until its proven that we are moving out of the dark ages and right now its far from certain. I don't take anything at face value from the club because they have a long history of letting us down, they have to earn that right again.

So if you don't agree with me, then that's fine, I do hope you are right because another year like 2016 and we'll be in a deeper hole.

So youre after a progress review??

Well wait til r26 is done, theyre not going to start it now just because we are grumpy...

Was about to say the same thing....in reality there is not going to be any real navel gazing until the season is done and the finals series is over.

From a business perspective, you don't generally get an annual report at 9 months

I went to a business breakfast last week where the guest speaker was the CEO of Aurizon. I spoke to him after about the Knights sponsorship - he said to me that sponsors are making their way back to the club because of how proactive they are being about rebuilding the club. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me from what he was saying if they took a back of jumper spot.

Guess what that means - more sponsorship dollars!

We have GOT to have a bit of patience and let them turn around an utter shit sandwich that they inherited. The right people are watching them and are impressed.

Who is our potential Rebecca Frizelle? It's easy to say that players have fallen in the Titans lap, however they appear to have played a pretty smart game.

I don't see how we have anyone near her calibre on our board bar Mark Fitzgibbon - however he has interests all over the place.

So who is the business people in Newcastle who can do what their board has been able to do up there?

there's no money in Newcastle.
Unlike the Gold Coast which has been in a recession since the start of the GFC.

I mean seriously. A travel agent is stumping up $300K a year for Hayne. A travel agent!

You want people to think differently and think out of the box. So start thinking mate.

You stick your head up (in this town or on this forum) and every dickhead wants to knock it off. Why bother.

We are happy with honourable losses now.

I'm not, I'll keep sticking my head up.

I've got a number of questions and comments particularly re TPA's and I'm taking it straight to the club.

We need a high profile former player and a Hunter business player to drive this process and I've got two in mind.

We arent going to get people dropping 500k at a go, we need bundlers like politics, lots of smaller donations.

I'm going to speak with the club first before I blab too much.

Townsville is up the spout financially too, yet they are in a good position footy wise

I just can't buy that our teams location is the limiting factor for success. If it were we may as well just fold now.

We play in an international competition ffs.

Am I correct in saying that Hagan admitted to matching players payments to what other clubs offered? I feel like I read it but I could be wrong. If this is in fact true, the bloke should be frog marched out of Newcastle.

His exact words around player negotiations were "you have to meet the market". This was on radio when he was bagging out the club for letting Tariq and Tapine walk for more money.

Yeah, I couldn't find the exact quote but slots is close to the money there. He certainly implied what you're saying BIHK, even if he didn't say it directly.

Last we had that Members meeting with the Board + Players.

Is that going to happen again this year do we think?

We didn't have that power last year either?

There's been an almighty lack of communication from the Board and the community/Members about where the club is heading.

Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the Tinkler vote. I don't know much about what has happened with the club post-Tinkler taking control.
