Well you wouldn't read about this reason. Barca and Atletico, both 8-0-0 to start the season, both joint leaders heading into day 9. Barca draw to Osasuna... then Atletico are left with the chance to take the outright lead. Atletico are much fancied against Espanyol LOSE 0-1 thanks to... an OWN GOAL!

So instead of taking the outright leadership, they lose, meaning they've gone from joint leaders to outright second on a day that Barca did not win.

If Malaga's keeper wasn't on beast mode then RM would have put the ball at the back of the net about six times. He made about 13 saves. Nonetheless it was a great performance by Madrid. Good to see Bale back and good to see Morata starting.

Couldn't watch the game cos it was on at bloody 3am. f**k Real Madrid lost. By the looks of things Bale played striker and didn't do a good job.

Sergio Ramos was playing midfielder for some reason. That's a weird coaching decision. Also Messi was playing right wing.

Neymar was man of the match.

wtf would Carlo play Bale at striker ?

looks like he really is having trouble fitting him in which they really should have thought about before they forked out all that cash

doesn't make sense, but then again I never rated Carlo when he was at Milan. Milan fans were happy to see the back of him.

I had an opinion that Bale would go well at striker but that's another story.

Saw the highlights and all i can say is that Barca are very very lucky not to lose the match. Ronaldo put a ball to Khedira in the penalty box and Pique clearly did a handball but refs didn't pick up on it.

Also the refs didn't give a penalty to Ronaldo wen Mascherano clearly pushed him over in the penalty box as he looked like scoring. Two terrible decisions that went against Madrid.

I guess we just have to get up and move on. Still early stages in the season.

And Ancelotti said he had to sell Ozil because he couldn't fit him in.

He was your best midfielder you f**kwit.

If this season finishes how it starts and Real finishes behind Barca in every trophy, surely there has got to be sackings for the Ozil-Bale disaster.

How the f**k do you sell a world class player and then pay double for an inferior one. And how do you sell Higuain while keeping Benzema.

Anybody off the street would have been smart enough to not make these mistakes.

Surely Ancelotti and Perez won't be there next year.

Perez is not a football guy he's a commercial guy, after Neymar rejected them I think it stung Perez especially after it emerged that Neymar had accepted less money to come to Barca. Perez's ego took a hit and I think that's what dictated the Bale pursuit. Ozil has more runs on the board, more big game experience and is a better fit for the team, and he's pretty much the same age. The decision makes no football sense but rather commercial sense, I think they were somewhat motivated to break the transfer record just to show their still 'the biggest club' and they let Spurs milk them for every last cent

Özil has little to do with the Franco situation they're in. Their central midfield is absolutely woeful. They paid ?40m for a guy who can't come in and make impact and their defence is terrible.

It's funny because the way you carry on is like you've never seen this before from Perez.

They haven't won Europe in 11 years and the league only once since 08. Massive underacheivement for "the worlds biggest club".

I hope Athletico finish above them.

LOL

people like tommy smith were calling Bale the third best player in the World  not even top 15

Neymar dominating from day 1
I'm honoured that you're always thinking of me.

Bale was immense last season. He basically single handedly led Spurs to 5th in by far the most competitive league in the world. Without him they would have finished about 12th.

Based on last years form alone he was clearly one of the top 5 performing players in the world.

3rd best was a stretch. I got a little excited but I have the balls to admit it. I should also have paid more credence to the fact that one season doesn't make a career.

As such Ozil is clearly a better player because he has performed for many years at multiple clubs. The way he has immediately adapted to Arsenal is the sign of a pure genius.

Nobody gets it right all the time. I got carried away on Bale. But, make no mistake about it he is a sensational player. I just doubt his ability to adapt to another country and handle the pressure of being the 100million man at a club like Real.
