Some interesting results overnight...

Barcelona 4 - 0 Granada
Real 5 - 0 Almeria

Not one person from the above 2 games managed to score a double - 9 individual goals from 9 individuals.

In other results, Atletico defeated cross-town rivals Getafe to keep the pressure on Real!

Ancelotti needs to make Isco a guarantee starter. He has Ozil's creativity plus the ability to score goals. A wonderful and talented player to watch.

The most casual looking bicycle-kick goal you will ever see from Diego Costa. As if he does it every match. Brilliant.

It's such a lopsided league this year. I mean it's always lopsided in favour of Barca and Real; but this year the drop off from the top 3 to the rest is scary.

Without Messi Barca are falling to bits. Gotta give credit to Bilbao though. They pressed hard and dug Barca a huge hole. But it is quite evident that without Messi Barca lost that spark in attack. Playing Fabregas as a make shift striker shows the lack of quality depth Barca have in the striker position. Neymar despite being a class player just doesn't fill Messi shoes.

Contrastingly with the acquisition of Bale, Madrid can definitely cope without Ronaldo which was evident in the last game. Real Madrid have quality back ups and will not look to falter if injuries hit us. If Isco gets injured Modric can shift to CAM. If Xabi gets injured we have Casemiro and Illaramendi. If Benzema gets injured we have Morata and Jese. If Bale gets injured we have Di Maria.

Bale despite the price tag will be very valuable within the years to come. Him and Ronaldo will build a great combination. If Ronaldo gets injured then Bale can cover his position without any fuss. They are pretty similar players and i can see Bale developing even more with Ronaldo around him.

I think this is where Madrid are far ahead compared to Barca. There is simply no one to cover Messi's position and the longer Messi is not playing for Barca, the more Barca will struggle.

Let's just keep one thing in mind guys, the mechanics who don't get the praise orchestrate Messi's success... Iniesta and Xavi! Without them, Messi is nothing! Just have a look at his performance for Argentina.

So why were they hoofing long balls all day against Bilbao?? Xavi and Iniesta were so ineffective they got substituted lol and Cesc with another Houdini performance when the going gets tough.

If it wasn't for Toquero then Bilbao win 3-0.

18 goals in 16 games over the last two years according to wiki.
