As previously mentioned, it would be ideal for Te kaha to discontinue his moderating of this thread. Allow this to be a thread that can educate and inform on a particular topic. This is not simply one code bagging another. This is a discussion that is relevant and should be had on this forum. Allow those with knowledge to educate LJC and others - and that includes Te Kaha. Learnig something that conflicts with a preconceived idea isn't a bad thing. It's new knowledge.

In a vein attempt to get this back near the topic.

I'm not convinced that League in Australia really needs to be that deeply seeded in the schooling system. League is impressively far more popular than Union in this country that kids will want to play the game more than union anyway.

Perhaps the argument though would have more merit in other countries, particularly those in Europe.

Of course, the best way to do this is to have a fundamentally and economically strong international body governing the game, much like Union has.

Sadly, the NRL and Superleague seemingly have more power than the international body.

Thats the root of the problem in League at the moment. Get that sorted and then set out a clear guideline for consolidation and growth of current nations and then look into expansion.

As it stands, each emerging nation has little in way of international support which plays right into the hands of the archaic administration implemented by the IRB.

We can sit here and butch and moan about how much Union has treated League like shit til the cows cone home. But its all fruitless if theres no structure in place to support those nations who need it against future raids by Union.

Its just that simple.
