The ability to throw the flat long ball to create space laterally against a fast defence is still the most valuable attribute at Origin level.
Now these blokes are not the longest passers of the ball, but IMO, in this order, the best passers of long balls are:
1. Lockyer
2. Thurston
3. Prince
Until NSW can find at least one half to match them in this area they will still struggle at Origin level.
Trent Barrett would probably be next; no surprise he was probaly the last NSW half since the Johns / Fittle era to be part of regularly successful Origin sides.
