Thierry won f*ckloads of trophies with Arsenal. More than any of the $hitty mercenaries have.

Cesc won a trophy with Arsenal in his first season.

Adebaywho? That guy who can't even secure a move to Tottenham?

Clichy won the FA Cup with Arsenal, and was a member of The Invincibles. Something City hasn't, nor will ever do.

Na$ri is a cross-dressing merkin.

RvP also has won an FA Cup with Arsenal.

KSIOlajidebt. Haha. That video is awesome.

RvP can get fckd. Palm him off for 15-20 mill. Put it towards Niang and Cazorla.

If Theo wants to leave as well he can f**k off and flop in some other system. 10-15 mill for him could go towards Jovetic. Throw in the 12-15 mill we could get for selling Bendtner and Arshavin and we could probably make a play at M'Villa to.

I see that as the most logical thing we could do. Obviously it won't happen, and today Wenger ruled out making a move for M'Villa because Diaby is apparently fit.

Looks like Cazorla might be a possibility though, his answer to the question today looks like we could be making a play at him. We were pretty close to getting him last season before we made a move for Mata and eventually f**ked both up.

After the Mata saga last year I'm ignoring all reports until or if it's even announced by the club.

He'd be a very welcome signing : Experienced and technically exceptional - something we've missed from a midfielder since Cesc and Nasri departed.

In other news, Liverpool are looking at signing some guy from Swansea for 14m. Arsenal paid 10m for Podolski

 Comparing Joe Allen to Ronaldo. Please. No one is saying he's not a good player, but you'd think Liverpool would learn from last summer when they paid extreme amounts for shit British players. And here they go again, throwing ~15mill at a player that before last season no one had heard of.

I thought Rodgers said he wasn't going to buy any of Swansea's players.

They spent more on Joe Allen and Borini then we have on Podolski (younger ever European player to make 100 international caps) and Giroud (Joint Lique 1 top goal scorer last season).

I can't see how Liverpool are going to finish in the top 6, let alone top 4 this year. Not too worried about them.

Totally irrelevant.

My point is that a lot of pundits, journalists and fans have harshly criticised both Arsene and the club for their transfer activity over the past 12-18 months. But within the context of the entire league, I think both parties have done quite well.

Arteta - >10m
Podolski - 10m
Giroud - 12m
Ox - 12m.
Mertesacker >10m.
Santos 4-5m.

Compare that to Liverpool for example :

Carroll - 35m.
Henderson - 20m.
Downing 20m.
Adam - 10ish.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Dalglish is out of a job.

Podolski could well fail, never did anything for bayern, giroud is an unknown, oxygenchamber is a wc player in the making, mert and santos both faliures, so out of them we got one great player, we may save money compared to liverlol but we still dont challenge for the PL like them

Do you even watch the games? Or just the highlights package?

Mertesacker made one or two high profile mistakes but other than those he was great and gave a lot of composure to our back line. Santos scored some big goals for us and we really struggled when he was injured.

If we spent as much money as your precious Liverpool then we probably would challenge for the title. But our board don't see that as a priority obviously.

Serious question...how old are you?

OLd enough that Ray Parlour is still my Fav player to come out of arsenal from the start of me watching the club as a kid, but anyhow ill bite

Mert, was slow and often caught out on the break, along with some poor positioning on many goals,
Koscielny and Vermaelen are our best CB pairing easily and its not even a contest, Merts can warm the bench unless Bartley gets his chance

Santos - was good in attack, hell even great in attack his goal against chelsea was great and clutch, but again for a leftback/defender he didn't do the defending up to a premier league standard, id even go as far to say a championship standard.

i would have much rathered, Filipe Luis or Jose Enrique

i also hate liverpool, but other than not shelling out terrible fees for some over rated english players, we havent exactly hit gold on our transfers lately

Arteta- was always a given he would be class and feel if we had gotten him instead of nasri when we had the chance we would have won the pl in 08/09 or 09/10

Ox - could well be a world class player if he continues

Thomas Eisfeld - could be the steal of the century if continues the way he is

Ryo Miyachi - See OX

As for the rest there is a long way to go

For Arsenal to go forward we need to attack this years transfer market and also drop some deadwood

Out
Bendtner
Vela ( 4 mill + 50% Sell on Real Sociedad) CONFIRMED
Almunia
Park
seb Squill
RVP
Gibbs
Djourou

In
Lukas Podolski CF ( Confirmed)
Olivier Giroud CF (Confirmed)
Ganso CAM
Jetro Willems LB
Santi Cazorla Winger
Etienne Capou DM

That with Wilshere and Diaby back gives us a massive chance

----Wojcech-----
Sagna ----Kos----Verm----Santos/Gibbs

-------Song------
--Wilshere-----Arteta-----

Cazorla-----Giroud------Podolski

Along with the likes of Walcott, Ox, Rosicky, Diaby, Ramsey, Gervinho, Arshavin, Ganso and rest we would be in a awesome shape

Giroud, Podolski and Cazorla already in (Cazorla hasn't been officially confirmed but he's in Germany with the team, he's a Gunner). Rumours are we're after Sahin and Van der Wiel as well. Word is RVP might be changing his mind. Suddenly we have a squad that is potentially a contender.

First XI:
Podolski-RVP-Walcott
Arteta-Cazorla-Song
Gibbs-Verm-Kos-Sagna
Scz

2nd XI:
Gervinho-Giroud-AOC
Ramsey-Sahin-Wilshere (I'd suggest Wenger will start off with bringing him off the bench for 20 minutes a game for a significant part of the season)
Santos-Per-Djourou-Van der Wiel
Fab (if your backup GK is your biggest problem, you're in a great place)

That is the deepest and most talented squad we have had since the trophy days.

If it's true Sahin and VDW are next on the list, we have the quality to contend.

If on day 1 of the season we have added Giroud, Podolski, Cazorla, Sahin and VDW to last years 3rd place squad and have not lost anyone of consequence, IMO we have surpassed United as the biggest challenge to City going back to back.

VDW is shit. He has talent but he probably should have moved from Ajax after the 2010 WC cause he's been rubbish since. Pretty much a shit Gibbs. He was absolutely diabolical during the Euro's this season and seems to care too much about his fckn music and clothing line then he does about becoming a better player.

If we are looking at a RB we should be looking at Debuchy, f**k knows why we are sitting by while Newcastle are throwing 4.5mill pound bids at Lille for him.

If Sahin does come it won't be long before he's starting. I'd love to see a midfield of Sahin, Cazorla and Arteta but it's just too soft defensively, Arteta and Sahin are decent defenders but there isn't any size there. I imagine if Sahin does come we will see a lineup like this at some stage (assuming RvP does leave):

Gervinho Podolski Cazorla
Sahin Song Arteta

My hopes for the rest of the window are:

Sahin on loan. Frankly atm i don't care if there's a clause to buy him later. If he has a good year and enjoys himself i can't see him wanting to go back to Madrid to be their back up left back (which is where he played in a recent friendly). Getting him on loan will mean he doesn't go to one of our rivals this season as well, rumors floating around the United are looking at him.

Debuchy. Solid as and could be fairly cheap. Sagna isn't getting any younger and is coming back from a second broken leg in 12 months.

Backup GK. Maybe Craig Gordan from Sunderland. Unless he's already been picked up he's available on a free, decent age and has been usurped by Mignolet. Surely he'd prefer sitting on the bench at Arsenal then at a midtable club like Sunderland.

RvP to stick around. I don't care if he signs a new contract or not. He's going to have to have a decent year for the big teams to still be interested in him next season so I can't imagine he would put up much of a fuss. No one will pick up an injury prone 30 year old asking for 200k in wages and coming off a bad year. Fact is, with him we look like a challenger (can't see us winning, but we won't be 19 points behind), without him we are back to fighting for forth.

Anyway, it's looking like a decent window for a change and i can't wait for the season to start.

Can't see it. United got savagely raped by injuries last year and were thirty seconds away from winning it. Plus bringing Kagawa in means they can stop carrying that muppet Welbeck and play Rooney at striker.

They're still looking at Lucas and if that fails i can see them making a big play for RvP. I know Wenger doesn't want to sell anyway to them but if they come in with 18-20 mill I can't see our board saying no.
