Haha, i didn't think it'd be long for you to come along.
You're not going to get Falcao. It's like Liverpool fans thinking they'll get Cavani.
You might get Damiao but you guys were talking about him in the Jan window saying he was close to signing and it never happened. So i'll believe that one when it happens.
Nope, you're right. Sigurdson was great last season, i'm not going to dispute you on that. I was just replying to Twizzle who seems to think a players quality is proportional to who they are linked with. If it wasn't for you guys Sig would've signed for Liverpool, they're pretty much midtable these days. And not too concerned about Vertonghen. If we wanted him we would have got him years ago.
You're welcome to any of those signings. Adebayor will try for 6 months of the season and lose focus like he did last season/every season and there's a reason Lloris is worth a third of what he once was. Granted I know f**k all about Moutinho, but i think i'm safe in assuming he's not as good as Modric.
Everyone knows you're not done with your spending. But there's what? 9-10 days till the season starts, and you have no recognized strikers? Better get a move on.
I don't expect Van Persie to stay. But we've signed two decent strikers as well as a CAM who will create triple the chances that muppet Ramsey produced. A shit load of things will have to go wrong for us to perform as badly as we did last season. I can't see us repeating the start we had, even if RvP and Theo leave, and i know Arsenal fans say this every season but surely we can't be hit as badly with injuries as we were last year, (Wilshere the whole year, Vermaelen for 6 weeks, Mertesacker for 3 months, Arteta for the last 5 weeks, 5 fullbaks out all at the same time for like 5 weeks, Sagna with two broken legs).
Where as you guys are going to need a lot of things to go well for you if you're going to perform as you did last year. I can't remember any of your starters being out for a prolonged length of time (aside from King obviously, but he wasn't really a starter anyway).
The only reason you were so far out in front of us in the first place was because of Redknapp. That run and gun shit he had you guys going with was getting the best out of your players. Sure he overplayed them and they were fckd near the end, but if he hadn't played them pretty much every game then you wouldn't have had the start you did.
Anyway, I hope you guys have a decent year and finish above both Liverpool and Chelsea. I'm happy for you guys to end up anywhere you want, just as long as it's not above us
(sorry for the long post, at work and bored as shit)
I know we won't get Falcao, it's just clear that we have really high targets when we actually did inquire about him. I think Leandro keeps stalling because Inter are playing hard-ball, that and Leandro's value keeps rising, which doesn't suit Levy. I think Levy is going to pay for not being more aggressive on this front; we seem likely to get him, but as you say, it's been that way for a while. No doubt he'd be a massive signing though. I don't know how he would cope at first but the potential is there.
Ah I see, my bad. That's what gets me about Adebayor, he played badly for half of the season and yet still had the superb statistics that he did. I'd take him back in a heart-beat, our main issue when he dropped out of form was that no-one could really fill his role in the team as the front-man. If we get both him and Leandro, we shouldn't have that particular problem at least. As far as Moutinho goes, he's similar to Modric in the sense that he works his butt off. He's a much better defender though, but still a great playmaker. He's not as good as Modric but he's not too far off.
You're right, there's been a lot of hallabuloo with us this transfer window. New manager, Levy attending to his ill wife, etc. Crazy couple of months. I don't expect to Arsenal to start that way again, but in saying that if RVP does leave even with the new additions and - yes, booting Ramsey out - so on, I think you guys will be a little worse off in the goals department. You've bought players that can certainly pick up the slack, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Arsenal perform better without him.
Yeah we weren't hit that badly with injuries as your lot was. Huddlestone missed the season, Dawson missed most of the season, Lennon missed about half the season, Bale/VDV/Walker and a few others would have a few weeks on the sidelines every so often. I'm not sure how I rate us for this season - I have absolutely no idea how much of an impact AVB will have. He could turn out to be the messiah and guide us to the top four again. He could fail and we have to settle for mid-table. I know that his style of play suits us far better than it did Chelsea. All I know is that Bale is already switched on in the pre-season, which is a bloody good sign.
As far as Redknapp goes, the missteps I am talking about relate more to the FA and him wanting to get the England job. It's been talked about quite a bit by Spurs fans, I am not sure as to the validity but it seems pretty accurate. Apparently, he wasn't attending training sessions, wasn't even really involving himself with the squad, was constantly harping on about the new job he wanted. That and his tactics were absolute tripe; as much as Bale looked good whilst doing it, he should never have been taken off of his left wing. It usually resulted in Assou-Ekotto being exposed, Bale not providing effective contributions and our team suffering because our players were getting the ball in bad areas. It was too late before Redknapp realized Sandro's value - I agree about the constant XI thing to an extent, but there's no doubt Redknapp had equally capable substitutes for players like Parker, VDV, Walker, Lennon and co. Most of our squad was completely alienated by him throughout the season, and even our first XI suffered because of his antics around January-February. When Kranjcar, Dos Santos and co were eventually called up, they looked disinterested - much like Harry himself. He sent out a lot of our good bench/rotation players on loan that could have helped us out greatly, and instead of going for younger targets with the money he had instead went for bargain buys like Saha and Nelsen.
Rant over lol. Don't be mistaken though, I definitely see the good Redknapp did. But he and he alone really screwed up our chance of finishing third. Of course though, he's the one that is very much responsible for having gotten us to that position in the first place. At the moment, I'm reserved about AVB - he could do a better job, and he certainly is getting the resources to do it.
Same to you mate, I am still underneath an Arsenal fan (my grandparents both lived in North London, one was an Arsenal fan, the other a Tottenham fan, I'm mostly Tottenham but partly Arsenal) and I've always got a soft spot for them. Doesn't mean the rivalry doesn't get me up though haha. I'm happy to finish fourth as long as a repeat of last season doesn't happen with the scum.
we're not going to get Falcao, Lloris or Mourtinho, not even on our radar atm (too expensive), and I hope we dont sign Ade, sorry but I just dont rate him
if you guys were after a Spanish wide player, Navas is the man, he's probably worth every bit of 15mill
good luck with Cavani but I just dont see him improving your squad
Depends on who you listen to. Mountinho I see as a lost cause, I didn't say we were actually going to have any chance at Falcao - everyone and their dog knew that lol. You don't rate Adebayor? That's fair enough and all, but he was still one of the best strikers in the league last season. I don't think he's worth the trouble we are being put through though.
I disagree Twiz, Cazorla is an excellent player. What TB is saying about being stuck behind class players is pretty accurate. If it weren't for Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alonso, Silva....etc, lol.
