I'm happy with all the new guys that were brought in, Arteta and Benayoun will add experience in midfield which we badly needed, I guess late is better then never.

I thought we were meant to be a big club who challenges for trophies? Instead we get an injury crocked player on the wane (Arteta), as well as a player who can't even cut it at a big club (Benayoun), to replace Fabregas and Nasri. We NEEDED two classy players before focussing on depth this transfer window. Instead we sold our two best midfielders, and rather than replacing two classy players with two classy players, we've replaced them with squad players at best. Does Arteta ever dominate top teams (Chelsea/Man Utd standard) regularly? Never. Is he a full international for Spain? No. He has never played in the Spanish national team. Never. Hell, Benayoun can't even cut it in a top side. This isn't good enough. We won't challenge for the EPL and Champions League, and I have deep concerns about the FA Cup as well.

f**k Wenger and f**k the board for screwing us over yet again. We've gone from a top team to barely mediocre.

Arsenal fans, have a read of that column before writing Wenger off. We've had a good week of signings. Are either Benayoun or Arteta the midfielder I wanted? No, but they are both quality players, Benayoun is criminally underrated IMO. Plus our defense is massively improved now, and along with the players we still need to get back from injury and suspension, we are still better than Liverpool and will finish top 4.

Szcezesny - Santos, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Sagna - Song, Wilshere, Arteta - Gervinho, Van Persie, Walcott is a good first 11. And with a bench of Koscielny/Gibbs/Frimpong/Ramsey/Benayoun/Arshavin we actually have depth.

We won't finish any lower than 4th.

LOL

Liverpool are much better than Arsenal this year. Especially with the recent addition of Coates.

Id expect Liverpool to seriously challenge Chelsea for 3rd place this year. They're a very good team this season. Full of pace and power.

The fact that you only beat us 2-0 while we had an injury and suspension ravaged lineup and without these 4 signings shows where the two squads are. With all your additions you're a little closer to us but certainly haven't surpassed us.

We'll be infront of you by Christmas, I'm looking forward to the rematch too.

When did the Owls beat Arsenal? LOL, and you think Arsenal would be champions of Germany
Mertesacker came to us, how often do decent players go the other way?

The Premier League has so much more talent than the Bundesliga it's not funny. Recent Champions League history tells you that.

Like when Bayern eliminated Man United en route to the final? lol smh

Hell, I even remember the times when Arsenal used to bend over and take it up the arse from Bayern. The Arsenal that hand Vieira, Henry and Bergkamp.

im a gunners fan but all 3 of these players would walk into basiucally any team in the world other than barca, Gotze, Robben and Ribery plus theres a few others.... the Bundesliga is on the up, and arsenal well we just became tottanham over the space of 3 weeks.

Guess i got to get used to not winning anything for a while now

I think its a bit pointless saying if Arsenal would win the Bundesliga or not. You cannot compare. They have just been stuffed by a team that would walk the Bundesliga (The Shalke boss last season said Uniteds reserves would qualify for the CL, nevermind the first team) and they play in a harder league so some players may not shine. Thinking of Bendtner, Arshavin, Rosicky, all would find it easier in Germany.

On the flip side the same money wouldn't be there. Would be interesting for someone to give Munich a bit of an off field challenge money wise, but Arsenal wouldn't be able to.

I wouldn't say Bundesliga is on the up so much. There are still only a hand full of world class star in the league, and a lot of very good players. Just like there always has been.
They have been helped a lot by Italy and Spain doing there best to destroy there leagues so they are the third league (take out the big two in Spain and it would be close for second).

Of course they are not helped by that fact that any world class talents are being cherry picked by other teams. But then that is the price for the league structure that makes it so competitive. So its a double adged blade.

Arsenal have a big first match in the CL against Dortmund, but they have already overcome one big hurdle in Udinese so i actually expect them to win. Dortmund look good on the telly, but Goetze, Kagawa, Hummels etc. have never been tried out at the very highest level.

As for the signings, some good players in there but it did smell of panic buying. Arteta for Fabregas seems like a downgrade, as does Yossi for Nasri. I thought that could of been managed better but i guess you just needed players by the end.

The Bundesliga lacks "name" players not quality as evidence by the amount of players who move on to "bigger clubs" but I digress my original point was that I'm 99% certain that Tommy Smith is a Sheffield Wednesday supporter.

I think they lack the top level quality that other leagues have. Thats my opinion and of course we are going to disagree (may as well, we do on everything else!! :D ). Just looking through the teams, Munich have some top players, Dortmund have the Wunderkids, then i am genuinly struggling. Hamburg have a few names but are just terrible at the moment (Mancienne? Really?). Players like Hajnal, Marin and Derdyok (Sp?) could probably do a job for other teams around the world, but more than likely the mid table teams in those leagues.

Not sure about Tommy. If your unsure ask him what he thinks of Sheffields finest Sean Bean. A real standout actor who represents all that is good about the city (Except for Corporation, top little club, but its my turn to digress).

Second highest representative at the world cup was the Bundesliga, more than double La Liga. There's plenty of talent in the Bundesliga just 3/4 of them aren't named players and teams can't compete financialy, look at some of the players lost to Germany like Vidal, Dzeko, Misimovic, Mertesacker, Elia, Özil, Khedira, Sahin, Van Bommel, Klose, Mathijsen, Pienaar, Nelson Valdez, Carlos Eduardo, Lucio, Kompany, Kuranyi, De Jong - all of those players left within the last 3 years, a lot of them from clubs like HSV, and the vast majority of them are at top clubs in Spain in England with the select few taking the Russian Mafia money or wasting away in the joke that is Serie A.

Like I said in the other thread it's a feeder league to the other leagues. If we'd have stayed true with Kraft then Neuer would be in England and not at FC Scheiße and with the ruling on the 50+1 that just happened it'll stay that way.

Apparently Arteta took a 10k a week pay cut to come to Arsenal.

Im estatic with the signings personally. Was there a world class player bought in? No.

But whats better for Arsneal? One player worth 30mil or 4 players worth 30mil? The squad was crying out for some depth and experience and thats what arsenal have now.

Arteta is a proven premiership player with a ton of expierence, it he can return to his form from a few years back he will be a sensational buy.

Park has a wealth of expeirence and everytime I've seen him play at international level I've come away impressed. Even if hes only here for a few years, he is a very astute buy imo.

Per, what can you say, Wenger has addressed the position most needed. He also has a wealth of experience and is the strong CB weve been looking for. Again he was at a decent price, so even if he does flop it wont be the end of the world.

Havent seen much of Dos Santos, but 22 caps for Brazil in the past 3 years would suggest hes light years better than Traore. I'm no sold of Gibbs either, so it was another position Wenger needed to improve.

The squad is vastly improved on what is was a week ago. I think Park will be the best signing of the lot.

Sorry for hijacking the arsenal thread peeps, just a quick question to TT.

What happened with that 50+1? It was the Hannover guy wasn't it? Wanted to own more than 50% of the club?

Back on Arsenal: Yes your squad is better than a week ago, but its not as good as it was at the end of last season. If Wenger had acted before being forced into it you could have an even better team.

Jeez, some people are hard to please. 'Arsenal don't sign enough experience', yet when we do it isn't good enough. 'Arsenal have signed players that are over the hill', yet the same critics cry murder when Arsene buys a player under the age of 25.

Don't forget we also have Wilshere and Diaby to return as well. Benayoun is only on loan, so I'd hardly see him as a "Nasri replacement". I expect the club to invest heavily before next season as well. Mertesacker is precisely what Gooners and pundits have been screaming for, and despite being relatively uknown, Ju is still a better option than Bendtner, Ryo or AOC.

Also, Cahill had agreed to personal terms, but despite being in 93m pounds of debt, Bolton said no. See you in January Gary.

Chezzy

Sagna - Vermaelen - Mertesacker - Santos

Song

Wilshere - Arteta

Gerinvho - RvP - Walcott

----------------
Fabianksi
Ramsey
Benayoun
Koscielny
Arshavin
Park
Diaby.

Strong at the back, quick on the flanks, a good mix of experience and youth in the middle and a world class striker at the front.

I personally am very, very happy.
