Podolski played as a striker today against FCB. He was substituted not long after the hour, 30 mins after Ribéry was sent off :lol: I didn't realise he was on the pitch until he was substituted

Zero shots :lol:

Big signing for Arsenlol :lol:
Firstly, it is no certainty we will be after him. Secondly, big clap, nice to judge him from one game.

I saw Messi have a mediocre game once, he must be shit too.

I've seen Podolski play, unlike you, and I've watched Princess Poldi since she was a teenage up start for the village team. Always crumbles under pressure. I remember her tantrums at FCB vividly.

Yep, one game. A game against the most important team in the league at the Arroganz Arena where Köln haven't lost in many years, a game when FCB went down to 10 men after 30 mins at 0-0 and Princess Poldi registered 0 shots and was taken off :lol: Messi doesn't choke against Real.

This is the guy who excites you.

This is why you can't rely on reading articles.

This is why you have horse semen for knowledge.

Excites me? I want him to be on our bench. A better Chamakh or Arshavin.

Someone to play FA cup and dead CL ties.

A good player...relative to most subs.

That's all I want and he fits that description.

0-0 HT. I'm staying up till 5am for this game. Hopefully the 2nd half doesn't dissapoint.

Szczesny has been great. Two outstanding saves. Speaking of which, almost to the day 20 years ago Szczesny's dad got sent off for punching Roberto Mancini in the face in Serie A. We should make a statue of him outside the Emirates.

Digusting. Blatant penalty. Handball in full view of the ref. Ignores it. We're 0-1, should be 1-1.

Edit: FT 0-1. Painful loss in that we played so well and went toe to toe with the best the league has to offer. If given an obvious penalty it would have been a deserving 1-1.

Also, Arshavin is rubbish. Every touch of the ball was awful. Why the f**k is he on the bench ahead of Chamberlain?

And TT, if you watched this game you would know why the PL is the best league in the world, with daylight second. We have 6 teams that would be in any other leagues top 3. And beyond that, the quality of the Football is second to none.

IMO as painful as the loss was the game was game of the year from an entertainment point of view.

Stayed up till 5am to watch it and not unhappy that i didn't.

We lost. But we gave them a hell of a game at their own place. If we had a bit of luck we could have snatched some points.

Their goal was pretty jammy and only happened cause we had no fullbacks so we had a DM covering Balo in the corner.

We had enough chances to sneak a goal, the Gervinho layoff for RvP, The RvP header that was called offside which wasn't and the close offside call where RvP was again called offside but ended up scoring.

There was obviously the handball call which definitely wasn't a handball but they get given once every couple of weeks.

In the end we had 5 players out who if they were fit would have started (Sagna, Jenkinson, Santos, Gibbs and most importantly Wilshere). They had everyone bar their starting left back, which they didn't need cause Zabaleta had a pretty awesome game, and were at home. Looking forward to the return game where we can hopefully have a full strength team.

I thought Kos, Vermaelen, Szcz and Arteta all had good games, we went there and had more possession, had enough chances but just didn't have the creativity needed to break them down consistently.

Gervinho, Theo and most of all Arshavin had pretty bad games. f**k knows why Arshavin still gets game time. We lost the ball every time that gimp midget touched the ball. No idea why Oxlade wasn't on the bench when only a couple of weeks ago he was raping Zabaleta.

Anyway, probably a fair result.

Went to Cheers last night to watch this one. So close yet no cigar. Man City butchered a few chances as well. All in all good game, frustrating result. I think we deserved a draw at the least.

I thought the team played well over all. We controlled most of the second half especially, just a shame we couldn't get the goal. Vermaelen's two shots at the end were pearlers... I thought his last shot that JUST skimmed the top right or left hand (a few beers jaded the memory) corner of the cross bar was going in. Both keepers had awesome games as well.

We need some more strike power off the bench. Arshavin and Chamakh are rubbish.

Blatant penalty? Are you blind?

Richards has his arm by his side the whole time. Classic case of ball hitting arm, not arm hitting ball.

1st is beyond us. City seems to have a lock on that. But playing how well we have and with reinforcements to come in terms of players back from injury, I think we're capable of getting as high as 2nd.

If we beat Villa like we should and Chelsea and Tottenham draw, we'll be 3 points from 3rd halfway through the week.

We have 4 league games in 10 days coming up. This is a time a lot of top teams could drop points, if we stay focused and consistent we could celebrate New Years in the top 4.

We'll finally get reinforcements in that area. Gibbs is due back very soon.

It's sorta a "one for one" situation though. Djourou out Gibbs returns... and Gibbs has a tendency to have some brain spasms in defence (much like Djourou). We don't concede that goal last night if Miquel drops back and picks up his man on the far post (Silva).. he was caught in no mans land..

... the thought of last night still hurts a little. The amount of chances that we had to take, but just couldn't. Frustrating :(

If only our best defender wasn't a better striker than Arshavin.

Some of those late attempts on goal by Verm were so good. A lesser keeper probably would have let one in.

Gibbs has :

* Pace.
* Crossing ability.

And doesn't have :

* geniusation.

Gibbs > Djourou as a FB.

I was prepared for a defeat this morning. I merely wanted a decent effort from the side - which is what we were given. I'm not happy, but am still content with the result. Especially considering there were five players missing.

I think if we played that well again we'd have beaten every team in the league not named Manchester City. Add in Sagna and Wilshere, and I think we'd have gone close to getting at least some points from City.

Of course the issue is to play at that level consistently. Last season we were horribly inconsistent. This season since the woeful start, we've put together a good 2-3 months of consistently good performances.

For the first time in a long time, I'm looking forward to our next game against a top 6 team instead of dreading it.

I think this team seems a lot more close knit than other Arsenal teams in the past few seasons. That's why you see us go hard for the full 90. The only player that doesn't look like give a shit is Arshavin. Chamakh tries, but he is just not good enough for the League.

I think if we had quality on the bench who we could turn to, to spark something new to get a result, we get a result against Man City. Instead we have Chamakh and Arshavin. I would've at least put on Rosicky or Benayoun because of their creativity.

Hopefully Arsenal get Gotze and Spurs get a striker so we can both enjoy the top four.
I have to ask, what happened to Arshavin? Has he always been like that?
Arteta has actually surprised me at Arsenal, he's certainly performing better than he did for Everton at this stage I feel.
Agreed regarding the togetherness, despite selling two players who were central to the side in their time and attaining a long of injuries, I'd argue the team is playing far more consistently than it did in the past few years.
