I'm happy with that guys, good job.

Yeah should be a fun season, I definitely learnt a lot from the first season in term of which positions and players are most valuable.

Hey so when are we drafting, 1st of Feb?

We should set draft rules and stuff now in terms of time limits and stuff like that, what do you guys reckon?

I imagine we'll draft as soon as the site's up and running, which is only set to be in February, not necessarily by the 1st. The site's been down in the last couple of days which I imagine means they're updating everything now.

And I do think we should be a bit lax about time limits and stuff. We know everyone in this group is keen as mustard for this thing to happen, so if someone is a bit delayed it'll probably be for a genuine reason, as happened on occassions last time.

I'd be surprised if the whole thing took more than 2-3 days which I think is very reasonable.

Definitely there should be a time limit but I don't think it has to be anything ridiculous. 8 hours would be my recommendation. That would give people enough time to get to another computer in the event of their internet going down or having to go to an unforeseen commitment etc. If my internet went down for the day and I missed out on 3 of my draft picks I would be furious, as I'm sure everyone else would be if it happened to them.

If people know they're going away for the day they should put in automatic entries.

But that's just my 2c, what does everyone else want?

I think the time limit should be at least 12 hours, but I agree that the draft will probably move quite quickly if everyone is keen.

Yeah I actually changed my time-limit to 8 hours.

Really if we get through 5 picks each a day I don't see that as too slow. It doesn't have to happen all at once imo.

You should find that most people will generally not use there time limit, it's more for those who may not be on a computer late and have to wait till the morning to make their selection

Gents,

I agree. I have a 13 hour day from leaving work to getting home. Coupled with the extremelly tough/strict internet settings at work I will only be able to have my automatic selections done before I leave. However if I know in advance (& if it was on a sat or sun) what day the draft starts it would make things a bit quicker. We all know from last years draft your 8 auto selections can go very quicly indeed.

I could apply for a couple of rdo's if we could all ensure we are at the computer ready to go. Unfortunately easier said than done.

Agree 100% cannot wait to get into it again.

Would we wait for a few preseason games to go first before starting the draft? Would suck having players missing with injuries before the season even started

One thing that I think should be changed is that you should be able to change a player in your lineup up to the last minute prior to the game commencing with another player who has yet to play, rather than the lineups being locked from 5pm on Fridays. I had numerous occasions where the health of a player was unknown on Friday, then confirmed on Saturday, I was then stuck with either having an unfit player selected in my lineup or having a good fit player off the team as a precaution.

That's what NRLCEO is though boys and having the 6pm Friday afternoon cut off will not change. Deciding who to select each week is meant to be a real challenge and players withdrawing from the game unannounced is part of the game! My attitude to that is that I simply try and recruit players who have a history of playing full seasons.

I will keep you all posted on developments in terms of site opening dates. Generally around the time of the second lot of preseason trial games. You can then choose to do your draft (or whatever recruitment method you want) as you please - after the preseason trials if you so choose....

Small suggestion, if anyone has a decent "late mail" link with regards to the latest in players in doubt (nrl.com is rubbish) to post it mid afternoon each week?

What was your scoring system last season? We only had the basic in LU2 (try, goal, workhorse try, sin bin and send off) and didnt have anything special for your captain. i know you guys had it differently
