It's a complete lack of intensity in defence and lack of purpose and skill in attack. Good players enjoy the ball in their hands where they control their and their teams' destiny and enjoy the opposition running at them. He seems to enjoy neither.

Come off it guys, you're way too harsh.

In defense - His biggest issue is that he seems unsure of himself unless he's the first one in... He had Bird running at him all night and he handled it reasonably well for a small guy. One on one he usually comes up with the goods (unless he's sliding or scrambling, then he always seems to get caught out) - it's when he should be coming in as a second or third tackler that he just hangs off, then gets caught flat footed if the ball carrier gets an offload away or breaks the tackle.

In attack - He seemed to play more of a genuine first receiver role last night, sending Benji out wide more often than I've seen in awhile. I imagine this is what Benji's been wanting from him, and why he's talking up his confidence in the press. Clearly he's got some work to do, but I think the issue is he's running around with stars in his eyes. It's not a lack of ability. As soon as he, Farah and Marshall sort out their combinations properly, he'll be right. This is as much a problem with Marshall and Farah as it is with Lui - they need to better accommodate him. It is also an issue with the coach, who should be developing more set plays to get him into the game and out of his shell in a controlled way.

Will this happen before the Grand Final? Well, let's hope so... If he gets that far, you'd have to hope he'll start believing in himself a little more.

His defence was terrible. It's not the missed tackles that get me. It's the non attempted ones. He lets players in line break situations run passed him with maybe a arm thrown out.

I feel for Ellis having to cover his arse and, in turn, blunting his attacking impact

Why does a player who is terrible need to constantly hear how great he is, maybe he needs to be told to f**king fire up and have a go!
Im sick of "He Needs Time" stuff, he has shown 0% improvement in over a year ., anyway im sure he tries most of the time but he mighten ever be up to this level so when ever this season is over we need to stop wasting time and look at another option, either Moltzen or friggn buy someone .

Imo i think his defence has improved over the last 2 weeks & there is certainly room for a lot more improvement in the coming weeks ahead. As far as his attack goes being such a young guy and playing with 2 of the best playmakers in the game in Benji & Robbie he is probably unsure when he should take the line on or pass, this will come as he gains more confidence in his own ability & not being overawed by the challenge.Believe me there is bigger & better things to come from this guy.

When? That is my biggest question, we are watching Benji and robbie getting another year older . We are lucky to have those 2 great players in our side but we havnt seen their full potential since prince left ... im over it anyway ,head against a brickwall scenario :(

Has anyone ever stopped and thaught "we have a salary cap, we can`t have superstars 1 -17" ???
I`ve been disappointed in the form a few players as well, but you simply can`t go making wholesale changes at this stage of the season.
For the record, I think we`re travelling just as good as any of the other sides in the top 8 and if our forwards lay the platform, no reason why we can`t win the competition.

From the other teams perspective the Tigers issues last night weren't just Lui ... they were the unbelievable number of unforced errors... don't make those, don't give away all that possession and the first half evens out. Have you forgotten Farrah's deadball kick on the first?

Lui mightn't be much but he had some mates out there.

It's not about the salary cap, it's about finding the right player to play the role that we need. Benji and Robbie are special players and need a specific role player to gel with them. Whether that is a journeyman, u20 player or a Kimmorley isn't important. At the moment Lui just isn't doing the job. Lui, Marshall and Farah are like strangers out there and we will be unstoppable if our 6, 7 and 9 can find some cohesion.

No we can't make changes now and Yes "someone" will win the comp this year...
Our advantage is that we have the potential to develop our own superstar halfback for the future ..and a superstar fullback wouldn't hurt either.

Western Sydney is Rugby League heartland many of the other sides in the competition rely on players from Western Sydney to boost their teams.

Our juniors are very very strong I am sure there is a Mitchell Pearce and Josh Dugan within our junior ranks to combine with Benji and Farah..

Do some work Warren and Go find them !

Give the kid a break. He is not and should not be our 1st choice halfback. Moltzen should be our 1st choice, Lui is just filling in. Farkwit should have experimented more with Lazarus, Nicholls and Waters earlier on in the season. The problem is that farkwit has it in his head that Lui at 7 is the answer and that's it....just like he did with J-Mo. I personally think Lazzo is more skillful but his size is his problem. Defend him on the wing...just like he did when Benji first started. Luke Walsh is the bigget guy either but he gets by.

Lui is a great player in the making. He is young, inexperienced, and trying to fit into a team with two of the best play-makers in the comp. He needs a better attitude in defence, but then again so did Lawrence at a similiar stage in his development.

Lui is going better than OK at the moment. You'll see quick improvement in his game for the rest of this year and into 2011. I reckon this time next year most of you bagging him now will be forced to re-consider your opinion.

I can't believe some of you turds claim to be supporters.

He is a kid, has had a great season and is only going to get better. Kids make mistakes, but on the whole he is going very well. Who needs enemies when you've got 'supporters' like you. Dogs.

:sleeper:..most of us here support the club not the individual. We want to see the club win and the best players available must player not "mates". I for one am sick to death of saying next year every year. Sure we have made the play offs this year but twice in eleven seasons is not good enough.

And before you go on a tirade about being a true supporter, how many games have you attened in the last 11 seasons as a "supporter" not many I bet and most of them would of been in 2005 and 2010.

Lazarus is a long way better than Lui. In every aspect.

We aren't looking for a superstar, we're looking for someone with a bit of heart and some skill. Lui looks like he has never played before.

I've never seen a first grader look so confused positionally since...well Daine Laurie.

If you don't like criticism then you may not like life a great deal.

For f**ks sake, stop being a softcock wanker. We give praise and criticism where it's earned.

What the f**k has Lui done to deserve praise other than 'being a kid'

If you don't like the comments, get the f**k out dickhead.

We're all better supporters than f**kheads like you will ever be. Head on over to the official forum where you can all hold hands and dance around in the land of marshmallows and lollipops and fluffy kittens, giving everyone handjobs about how great every missed tackle by Lui which leads to a try, really is.

If you actually believe he's 'had a great season' I really question how much of a supporter you are and how many games you've seen this year.

There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. When it gets personal and vindictive like what had been happening with Fitzhenry then that's going too far.

Lui has not had a "great season" and is not going "very well". If you think that you're either high or don't know too much about football.

Robert Lui missed 4 (count em) cruical tackles last night - two of them directly lead to opposition tries. Another shoddy attempt gave GC a penalty 20m out right in front at a crucial stage.

These are facts.

"kids make mistakes"? Sure they do. Point is that kids who make those kind of mistakes have no place in a (ostensibly serious) 1st grade NRL team in 2010.

Calling people who reasonably point this out turds and dogs is just juvenile.

Go back and watch the tape carefully.

The problem is not that he had an off night but rather that he has systemic problems with his defence.

Come finals, all teams - and particularly St George, Canberra and Manly - will run through or over him. Make no mistake he will be heavily targeted and might well sustain injury (half hearted tackling is often more dangerous than full commitment as you may or may not know).

Whether Ellis, Fulton et al can cover for him adequately is imo highly questionable.

Wrong player at the wrong time.

I can't believe we have wankers like you on this forum.

He's had an average season for someone who's been given a HUGE opportunity.
He hasn't taken control of the team yet like a good halfback should and still relies too heavily on Benji or Robbie to get out us of trouble or to get us going.
And where the hell is his kicking game?
