the club made recruitment and retention decisions based on him inking a new contract and hanging around until the end of 2017. now there's talk of him wanting out?

he's no doubt been a great servant for the club, and souths appear prepared to fulfill his request in an act of goodwill, but it is a bitch of a circumstance considering they didn't retain Korasiau, and Sam left before the end of his contract too.

Sam Burgess left with 2 years to run on his contract didn't he? So Souths didnnt choose not to retain him they agreed to let him go to play Union on the proviso that when he comes back they get first say

Still think it's a long stretch to pencil them in for a premiership any time soon.

I think the biggest and potentially the best outcome from this is it'll bring the SoO style passion into the tests. NZ will have all year to work on combos/etc and we won't.

Its all about creating cap space for the return of big Sam. His stint in rugby has been a massive failure, so I guess he will be heading back next year and I am not a Souths supporter, but the Rabbits are a millions times better side when Sam is in the middle
