- it is their decision, and its one they've made for several years now
I never said it wasn't their decision, but as a bit of a tangent it doesn't make any sense for the Storm to have done what they have done in this case!
Put yourself in the Storms shoes for a second, they are trying to grow their support base in QLD by playing extra games in Brisbane, the games they've taken to Suncorp so far have been very successful and no doubt very profitable for them, so why when the opportunity that this magic weekend presents comes along would they want to use the home game they normally take up there as part of their doubleheader as part of the Magic Weekend instead, it makes no sense?!
From where they are standing this is a great opportunity for them to play three games in Brisbane but only spend one home game (away against Broncos, Magic, and their home game as part of the Doubleheader) so they get more exposure in QLD then ever before without losing anything more then they have in the past and still getting the cash from the doubleheader as well, for them the Magic game would effectively be a free bonus, but instead they are getting rid of their very successful and profitable double header and replacing it with Magic (which BTW I'm sure the NRL will make worth their while as well) in other words they are basically foregoing everything in their interest, they want more exposure in Queensland but they are forgoing an extra game a season in QLD, and they are forgoing a hefty paycheck in the process as well, from where they are standing that is madness...
I'm sure I sound like a broken record now, but it makes no goddamned sense on any level for the Storm to do what they are doing as it goes completely against their interests!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they definitely are being forced to take a home game to Magic or anything of the sort, it could just be (and almost certainly is) incompetence on the Storms part, but considering the circumstances it's not impossible that they are being forced to replace their doubleheader with the magic game, and it does at least raise questions (that will probably never be answered, but questions none the less) does it not.
- it makes sense given the traditionally high level of Maroons players in their squad
LOL, whats the Warriors excuse then...
- I doubt they needed to be pressured or coerced.
Just as I don't know that they were, you don't know that they weren't, and it would be in NRLs interest to do so...
Also the NRL has/is definitely pressuring, coercing, or even forcing some clubs into taking games up there for magic weekend, unless you are seriously going to say that all the clubs slated to be the home team over the weekend were happy with it and had no misgivings, which IMO would be a ridiculous thing to say.
You're actually getting stupidly upset about a hypothetical lol
What hypothetical, there's nothing hypothetical about it at all, for the Magic weekend to be possible at all it's necessary for clubs to take home games to Brisbane that wouldn't normally and realistically at least some of which don't really want to and aren't really happy about having to, it's only a matter of time before one of those teams that don't really want to but is being made to is one of the ones for which such circumstances is particularly egregious (IMO it's wrong in all cases, but particularly wrong when it comes clubs that are the only representatives of their city/region).
