Manly don't want Hasler in 2012

hahahaha nice one.

Hmmmm, coaxing players and coaching staff on contract to another club whilst in the head coaching position of Manly? And don't give me the "they have get out clauses". He still cannot coerce players to switch teams regardless of any clauses in their contract.
I've kept out of this argument for the most part but what the hell.....
The Manly Leagues Club board is a shambles of an operation and are reaping what they have incompetently sowed. When Hasler left, yep good luck to him. He'd paid his dues and served the club well so best of British to you.
But this has turned into an all in personal vendetta now. He is out to decimate the club.
Yes many of you will laugh and say "they deserve it". Bravo. Yeah yeah Manly pillaged teams in the 60's and 70's. How many of you people were even alive then???
The bigger picture here is that this is making league in general a bit of a laughing stock and you lot think its funny. Personal Manly agendas aside, does anyone think that this is a good look for league? The AFL would be jerking off to this stuff.
There is no doubt Hasler is in breach of his contract. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either blinded by their Manly hate or just stupid. Take our pick.
I have worked in MANY places where if someone resigns they are marched on the spot. Simple reason being the company the person is leaving do no want their clients and/or other staff members "gotten at" by the outgoing employee.
Hasler said he would coach Manly this season with 100% commitment.....REALLY????
I have had nothing but respect for Des and his decision to leave. But to bring the club to its knees (and I'm not saying the board are not culpible here) is just wrong and he should go with no payout of any contract next year for his actions over the past month.
My two bobs worth and I'm sure it will be shot down, but he has pushed the envelope way too far.

I know this is hard to believe from a Sharks fan, but well said Beav

Would be short odds. He said in a interview this season he wanted to play his entire career under Hasler. If Foran goes its not the end of the world if we can lock up Cherry-Evans.
Keep, hearing that, do you have a link to the interview?

Why should he be paid out? If they pay him out they should demand he not work for a rival club next year just to screw the Bulldogs over. If he goes to the Dogs next year he's going to get paid by them anyway.

In regards to breach of contract, if he's been speaking to any current Manly players contracted next year, in relation to them joining the Dogs in 2013 then he has certainly breached not only his contract with Manly, but also NRL rules because you're not allowed to do that until the new year unless that player has been permission to. Smart move by Manly.

 at Manly fans trying to pin this on our club.

YOUR BOARD is to blame for this fiasco. They seem from the commonsense point of view to be putting their own petty interests ahead of the club. Des Hasler IS (or at least WAS) Manly and you can bet your arse plenty of the players and staff there agree.

While no one person is bigger than the club, nor should the football club board be.

You couldn't use the return key ?

You read my post wrong, I was asking Bunniesman what actions the board had cited for him being stood down.

Tip your hat to greenberg?

Hardly, i thought the bloke a genuine breathe of fresh air in the CEO ranks, a forward thinker, someone who would help this code take another step forward, he always conducted himself in the most professional way, if he has indeed planned this entire debacle as being suggested by Dogs fans than he has completely lost all my respect

scum bloke, scum transit lounge club with no values, no development system and no respect

That is a very big IF. One that I would highly doubt.

He would have signed Hasler + the later events he would have obviously taken advantage of and rightly so. When a ready to go multi premiership winning team is asking to come over, Greenberg + Dogs would be stupid to Baulk.

So don't go taking one posters comments as fact.

Not sure how this would screw the Dogs over. Dymock was always the plan for 2012

If your a coach and you sign with a rival club mid contract you should have to pack your shit and leave straight away.

A coach's job requires planning in advance of the current year. To me the idea of Des coaching Manly in 2012 was geniused to begin with. There is no way in hell he can lead that team out for next year and pretend its business as usual.

Everyone saw how farcical this situation could become with Wayne Bennett this year planning for Newcastle.

As if the dogs have enough space under the cap for 2012.

They lost Idris, Ryan, Roberts, Tandy, Armit, Hodgson, Paea, Warburton, Tia Kifili just to list a few.

The first 3 were all on over 200k and Tandy was on close to that.

The only player in tripple figures the dogs have signed is Graham...

Sure we done some re-signing however most were already on the same kind of money only player who would of been a decent upgrade would of been Barba.

I'm sure if we get the chance we will make it work even if it means releasing a average player or 2. Hell mr keating your unwanted test the market...

If not then perhaps backend it... Fact remains if it happens and he wants to follow Des it will happen.

At the end of the day I don't blame Canterbury. They have to do what is right for them. However you also cannot blame Manly fans directing anger towards your club. It is only natural. If the shoe was on the other foot you can be damn sure you would be doing the same thing. You got those infamous bred not bought shirts made up after the Roosters poached a few players. Imagine if we decimated your coaching ranks and potentially playing ranks straight after a GF win.

Agree whole heartedly. As has been said many times though, the rivalry between the 2 clubs is back in a big way!!

Get over it, it was a stupid post.

Just responding to further comments.
