They are thinking that they will do better hiring out the club for weddings and wakes during Sept / Oct rather than just adding 2 at best most likely 1 more loss to the years results as per recent years.

Now assured that they won’t make the play offs and can provide celebrity guests for every event that is booked.
Yes, it is always best to have certainty when making forward plans. You have to admire Parra for ensuring their future activities are as stable as possible!

As crush has said the man is there apparently in a consulting capacity only so I wish the bloke the best . I cannot see him ever gaining a full-time coaching role again , so at least this position keeps him in the game that he loves so much .
What does a coaching consultant do and what qualities does Mary possess that convinced Parra he was their man?

Not taking the piss. Genuine question.

Well I am glad that you are not taking a piss , but for heavens sake , I don’t have any idea what the mind set of the Parramatta recruitment is anymore than any other team .

But at a guess I suppose that he would be making suggestions to the coaches . It may be the format of the training itself , to the actual physical training of the squad .

As to why the Eels gave the man the role is anyone’s guess , but they apparently believe that he has something to contribute to their team . What ever the answer is , I still wish the man the best .

He is away from the heat of the Dragons fiery breath , to the cool calming waters of ‘ where the eels lie down to sleep ‘ at Parramatta .

The Eels have been in the press lately re having issues retaining some / most of their marquis players.

Being a forward thinking club they have brought in the great Mc Fookknuckle to help with player retention.

They have quickly worked out that by allowing Mc Fookknuckle access to their current roster they will all be quickly deskilled and become worthless to other clubs.

So the Eels can retain them all on unders and Mc Fookknuckle will no doubt gain them access to the likes of of elite players like Corey Norman who can be signed on overs.

Gotta give it to the Eels they are thinking well outside outside the box.
Eels are living in 3021…every other team is living in 2021

On the upside McGregor did have an abundance of coaching consultants during his time at Saints, so he does have some experience in that area.

Gaz- you're a better, more forgiving man than me Gunga Din- his bald head still sets me off.

You can blame that on being sent to the Salvation Army Sunday school when I was only a little kid .

They would ram the good word into our heads and tell us to be tolerant and forgiving to others to such an extent, that I would put my hard earned halfpenny that I had in the poor box .

But back to Mary , after the first 2 seasons I realized that our maestro was not a quality coach , so I stopped blaming him and blamed the board after continuing to extend the mans contracts . Unforgivable .

True- but Mary seems to have some sort of hypnotic power over people in positions of influence. The DT/Fox/9 journos all love him- He gets an Origin gig- and now this?- are we on this forum missing something?- or are we just "vaccinated" against his BS and therefore resistant to his pitch.

Yes r&w4evr , he seemed to have some sort of charisma that the media were attracted to , just what it was is beyond me - then again my Ethel always thought that Telly Salvalas was an extremely attractive man , so it’s got me stumped !

However I always thought that Mary believed that he was doing the best he could for his team , but of course the results of 7 long seasons speak for themselves. The man should had stood aside when he realized that the Dragons were going nowhere under his tutelage .

One could say that’s all in the past now , however even in Griffin’s 1st year as coach he had to suffer the damage that had been inflicted upon the team - their mindset was very similar to that as though they were still being coached by the maestro .

Hopefully with the departure of the deadwood , Griffo will now have players under his direction that shall be free of ‘ Maryitis ‘ and that being the case season 2022 will see a dramatic improvement .
