Matautia contract updates

Like any of it matters now. The absolute stupidity of these boys is no surprise to me. Players are just straight up daft when it comes to their managers. If Stone has any balls he will sack the three of them now and send them packing. They won't change their minds. The bull grubs can have them. Why lose any sleep over it. Typical Gen Y arrogant self serving bullshit. Disloyalty is rampant in the game and will be forever now.

George coorey isnt a director nor ever bèen a director of justsportz management. Not sure how that would make the manager not acting in their best interests and in fact when they resigned with the knights it was on very liþle money as the knights had cap issues and the manager has been there helping them for many years. Gidley needs to look after doing his job better and if they did go and look at the dogs set up earlier this year it is not unusual. They were originally bulldogs junior playing with the bulls before they moved to newcastle. Gidley is showing himself to be unethical by saying he will talk with the boys without the manager as this is not profesional and he is being shown to be a substandard ceo.

Then the 2013 Canterbury Leagues Club Annual Report has a fair few mistakes in it.

See p4.

Also, your post and the points you are attempting to make are hard to interpret due to your poor sentence structure and grammar.

Why do you believe Coorey has never been a director of Justsportz???? Where do you get this info and how do you base your claims on it???

Just so you know, you sound like a grumpy old man.

Maybe have a nap or some boiled sweets or something?

This. Some of you are in denial blaming the manager and Gidley. Fact is, they don't want to play for us. They secretly signed on with the Bulldogs without making management aware of the decision. Despite what you think of current management, I think they deserved better treatment. We should not have to convince anyone to play for our club, especially petulant little twats who have yet to achieve anything yet have a list of terms and conditions. Stuff that. If they take on the field next year I won't be cheering for them.

If they take the Bulldogs deal then I agree they should see very limited first grade in 2015, called upon only when needed. Other clubs do the same thing. The Sharks and Lichaa an example and there are plenty more. Why would you continue to fast track the development of other clubs players when you are paying the wage bill???

If this means I have to watch Aku run around for us then so be it.

Is anyone confident they will stay? I'm hoping they will

The hardest part about expecting them to be loyal to the knights is that they have seen their oldest brother moved on to another club last year.

I'm not.

If we can't produce and keep our best talent then we are simply f*$cked, so yes I hope they stay, as I hope the best of our juniors are kept. If that's not a priority for this club then you can't support them in what they do. That should be the number 1 priority. There should be plenty of cap $$ to pay them a good wage. Bite the bullet, develop and keep your own, pay them well and build a team. You can't keep them all and I understand that but there is a pretty good crop of young players atm and it will be interesting to see how many move into the snr team and make great NRL players - at Newcastle and other clubs.

I was confident it was just the manager trying to beat up their price until it came out that they'd actually signed for the Dogs with the view that they couldn't pull out.

Honestly if that's the case and they've already made up their minds then I don't mind at all if we don't kill ourselves trying to change their minds. In fact I think I'd probably have more respect for the club if they just cut their losses, admit they f**ked up and move on...with the boys playing very little FG next year. This is new territory for us, it's very rare our juniors want to leave...so if they think they can do better than the club that got them to this place then good luck to them.

As sad as it would be after all the work we put into them (and I do think Sione is on path to become a star) if they wanna go they can go. They're certainly not irreplaceable (I think Chanel in particular has been extremely overrated - Aku and McManus would have scored the tries he did this year with their eyes closed). We'll bounce back, be free of the drama of their manager, and it may even be a wake up call to the NRL that we need a management overhaul.

This is possibly the funniest, most over reactive thread I have read in here. Thats saying something

The assumptions people are making based on very little along with the over the top outrage is astounding

I wish I shared your optimism. I mean, we've bounced back so well in the past? The problem with the Mata'utia boys is that they aren't overly important next year, but from 2016 onwards their importance becomes more apparent with an ageing McManus and question marks over both Leilua and Gagai's intentions to stay long term.

Additionally, the NRL figure they've just given us a management overhaul. I don't want their management overhauls if this is the product. We need private money involved that isn't the NRL's... if our owners don't have the supporters best interest in mind, they could at least have their own interests in mind - which would surely align with our clubs interests a little better than the governing body.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm just dealing with the facts of the matter. The boys signed something, their manager is being a prick and our CEO is floundering about like a confused puppy dog.

The thing I don't get is - if their manager is talking to all these different clubs about the boys - why get them to sign something with the Dogs? It makes no sense, because once that document is lodged - the boys only have 2 options... go to the Dogs and honour that deal, or renege and re-sign with the Knights. If the manager is indeed trying to get the biggest value contract possible - why has he cut all the players out of the race besides these 2 clubs? All of this going on a good 8-9 months before any deal would be officially ratified... it's just bizarre to me and indicates to me that this might not necessarily be about money alone. You don't cut down your clients options like this, so much can happen between now and Round 13 next year.

Something stinks. Something really, really stinks about this whole situation and we're not getting the full picture from someone. The managers links to the Dogs certainly are eyebrow raising.

I personally would hope one way or another this is resolved quickly. If they can't commit by start of 2015 then let them go. We don't want to waste 12 months developing them for Canterbury.

Agree with this. I want them to stay of course but forget round 13, if they haven't changed their minds by round 1 we needn't waste any more of our time and resources on them. They can sit in NSW Cup and only play if pretty much our whole backline is missing.
