" Big money for a rising star

The Dragons are on the verge of losing one of the most talented players to have ever come through the club.

Last year's NSW Origin Under-20's Player of the Year, Reece Robson, is set to quit Saints to link with either the Bulldogs or North Queensland.

The Junior Kangaroo is being offered $350,000 a season by the two rival clubs.

Dragons coach Paul McGregor is the biggest fan of first-choice hooker Cam McInnes, which is why Robson knows his pathway to the NRL is jammed. "

cant post link, but as per new Dragon's post, its on sporting new site. Link diverts to no spam.

its a disgusting tragedy.....both makes me angry and makes me physically ill
Saints had better throw some money at him all of the Kasiano budget and as much else as they can I dont want to see him carve us up hes so exciting to watch while well get stuck with Mcinnes
it for me, would me mentally disturbing to watch him carve a career with ANY other team!

The storm shifted the NZ rake on to make room for a 19 year old Cam Smith ..

McInnes is a good 9 .. but this is comparing Buderus and Smith ... One is very good, solid defence, good passing game from dummy half and the other is the best 9 ever to play.

Not saying Robson is going to be that good - it is just the comparision of the two .. but right now he is already better than McInnes ball in hand .. Needs time in 1sts to see if he defence is up to it.

Never have i felt a player leaving was so wrong than with this bloke.

Millward mess. For goodness sakes 350k. Just sign Robson, get rid of McInnes.
This is ridiculous.
"Get rid of McInnes, just sign Robson"
Go back 9-12 months ago and the whole forum was in love with McInnes.
Now here we are one year later saying just get rid of him! Sign the player that is yet to prove anything at NRL level.
Priceless.

I don't want to lose him either, but yeah, let's just throw one of the top 3 or 4 no. 9's in the game on the scrap heap so we get to keep a prospect who is untried week in and week out in the rigours of elite level footy. He might be a superstar in the making, but he might also hit the fatigue wall half way through the season and then what are we left with?
It would be unfortunate to lose him, agreed, but the level of wrist slitting over some of these untested kids is a bit much at times.

Absolute sacrilege if true. ( Robson leaving )
I will post on the Sack McGregor thread everyday for the rest of my life!
Bartender, please tell me it's not closing time!
OT I can see it now......we'll lose Robson, he'll star at another club & play Origin! Dragons will be left with a burnt out tackle machine in McInnes under the same lame coach whom will blame recruitment and backwards pathways Director.

The easy option is to use Robson as a 14 .. extend his minutes each week and make an informed decision.

Agree with those saying we should use the 'Kasiano money' to keep Robson. McInnes can be shifted to lock if need be and we can accomodate them both.

McInnes has proven to be a tough and great defensive player despite his obvious drop in form half way through last year. Robson has star quality and just might be a player we build a team around in the near future. He may fizzle out too but we can't afford to let another Cook type player slip.

I'm not saying filling the JDB void will be easy but it appears we can keep Reece, and we definitely should make that happen.

Like the taco commercial why cant we have both

A coach with nouse would have Robson on the bench wearing no 14

McInnes is a good player but not an 80min player it saps his attack

This would allow us to see how he goes and show Reece some love

He looks to good to be playing ISP only giving him a chance will let us know

For mine I would do the following to allow this to happen

1 Dufty
4 Norman
6 Widdop
7 Hunt
9 McInnes
14 Robson

Maybe then he wouldn't be rushed to make a decision as playing top grade will lift his price and then the Saints could make an informed decision on who to keep
