What shit me is Ennis can stand there swearing his head off calling a refereeing decision f**king bullshit for 3 minute but when Anasta questioned a decision without swearing later in the match he gets warned about dissent by the bloody ref.

Johns got suspended for how many games back in the day for swearing at s touch judge?

It's a lot easier to dismiss a knuckle dragger like Ennis's comments as just petulant whining from a dopey grub, Anasta
is harder to ignore, because he talks to the ref's like they're stupid.....funny as hell though.

ennis should have been stopped by robinson, but he wasn't as condescending or aggressive as anasta tends to be with refs. gallen was blowing up in origin about everything as well. I personally think players need to be warned, then marched then sat down if they're going to keep going at refs. it will get out of hand if it continues.

and refs shouldnt be calling players by their f**king nicknames either, call them by their number!!!!!

I've got no problems with players aggressively arguing their case like Anasta does. He generally addresses the ref as "sir" and will use logical argument and talk about precedent etc when questioning a decision. Cameron Smith is very similar IMO.

The refs may not like it as much as it is questioning their decision making ability, but its still infinitely more respectful than just charging in yelling f**king bullshit whenever something doesn't go their way.

:edit: Also to be fair to Anasta, he has been punched and elbowed in the face not once, not twice, but 3 times in the last 5 years yet been penalised and sin binned for the privilege. He has every right to speak to refs like they are stupid in that regard.

Completely agree. Refs should not address players as anything but their number, with perhaps an exception for captains. All players should address the ref as "sir", and no player bar the captain should speak to the ref unless spoken to first.

I'd also like refs to stop calling out players who are offside, holding down, grappling etc. Just penalise them. I'm sick of hearing refs trying to justify a penalty by saying "you did it the last 3 tackles". If thats the case, they should have been pinged on the 1st tackle instead of the ref seeing a penalty, but letting it slide. That sort of stuff only leads to confusion for players as it sends mixed signals throughout a game as to what is and isn't being allowed in the play the ball that day.

Anasta just seems to have a very hittable face. but he has a reputation for being aggressive and condescending with refs which is probably why they tolerate him less than other captains.

i ahet the calling out of players who are offside, let them be offside and penalise them. the one which annoys me more is when the defender is lying on the tackled player and looks at the ref to see if it's ok to keep lying there.

I don't think there is a roosters fan alive at the moment who wouldn't agree that Anasta has a very hittable face these days... :sarcasm:

Given his on field performances maybe roosters fans should start chanting "OFF" whenever he starts talking to the refs

Children are exposed to much worse these days, with their methamphetamine stoked internet pornography sessions and so forth.

There must've been plenty of people who didn't hear this live and are going off the OP's description.

We wasn't standing in front of the ref calling him any names, he was having a conversation with him and swore during it, not AT the ref but in talking.

The problem conversely for Anasta, whether he swears or not, is that he's condescending and rude to the referee instead of just asking for an explanation. The only time recently he's shown a cool head is post-Taikarangi no-try last week. Otherwise, he's petulant.
irrespective of all that Tim, as captain of the club, he holds a position of responsibility which he has agreed to uphold.

Telling a referee that a deision he made is 'f**king bullshit', irrespective of tone and placement in the conversation, is bad sportsmanship and not respectable behaviour.

And as much as some twats on here want to joke about 'the kids' the point is true. These guys are all role models and they know this.

It's not hard to speak to authority without swearing. Ennis has done it on many occasions in his career in the past.

Make as many excuses as you want for him, won't matter.

Did he need to swear?

Anasta's biggest issue is the sheer volume of whinging and complaining he does in every game. He's on Campese levels of whinging at refs.

I hate this merkin but to be fair if the swearing was not directed at the ref than its no different to say Chris Heighington & Co post 2005 Grand Final.

Now one would be correct to assume there were more people watching that live, and more children so by the OPs logic maybe the Tigers should be stripped of the Premiership.

Having said all that i agree with most posters about it not being necessary, in F1 the driver/pit conversations are delayed, propably because of the large amounts of chatter but the broadcasters are selective in what is aired, maybe the NRL would need to look at something like that if they're not going to crack down on player language.

Also if you listen carefully there are a shit loads of F#@ken Hells that come through the refs mics during general play, i have no problem with it myself but theres no reason children should hear it on TV at 3pm on a Sunday arvo. The Mics should at least be turned down or off.

Ennis brings the game into disrepute by answering every f**king question with `yeah nah'.

Interviewer: So Michael, you foreheadless clown, is it true you lost your forehead at a very early age ?

Ennis: Yeah nah you know it happened at the same time Farah ripped me a new arsehole on every conceivable stat in the game, but nah yeah i sledged hindy and i'm tough and made for origin but nah yeah georgie rose was running hard when i got out of the way

Ennis should have been binned there and then, the refs are too gutless.
NRL should fine or suspend Ennis and the Ref should be dropped.

Anasta is a bigger issue for mine, and not at the referees per se, but the way his complaining affects his team.

The Roosters don't cop it any worse than any other club, we all get howlers from time to time and we all blow up about them.

The thing with Anasta is that he believes he's justified every time he corners the referee, and as a result he's instilling a belief in his fellow players that they're being shortchanged. More often than not heads drop because the rest of the team thinks "yeah, the ref's against us" (not to mention the fans)... then the attitude declines.

The mark of a good player and team is how you overcome shit calls.

It's why the Roosters are 14th, and not 4th.

dont put mics on the refs...

what is said on the field should stay there.

ever sweared at work albert?

get over it.

I and most fans find it interesting when the ref explains why a decision went X teams way so no.

And players aren't dumb they know with all the camera's everywhere and mic's on ref they are heard so they should try to use some class.

$1000 fine and a public apology from the club IMO.
