ennis should have been stopped by robinson, but he wasn't as condescending or aggressive as anasta tends to be with refs. gallen was blowing up in origin about everything as well. I personally think players need to be warned, then marched then sat down if they're going to keep going at refs. it will get out of hand if it continues.
I've got no problems with players aggressively arguing their case like Anasta does. He generally addresses the ref as "sir" and will use logical argument and talk about precedent etc when questioning a decision. Cameron Smith is very similar IMO.
The refs may not like it as much as it is questioning their decision making ability, but its still infinitely more respectful than just charging in yelling f**king bullshit whenever something doesn't go their way.
:edit: Also to be fair to Anasta, he has been punched and elbowed in the face not once, not twice, but 3 times in the last 5 years yet been penalised and sin binned for the privilege. He has every right to speak to refs like they are stupid in that regard.
and refs shouldnt be calling players by their f**king nicknames either, call them by their number!!!!!
Completely agree. Refs should not address players as anything but their number, with perhaps an exception for captains. All players should address the ref as "sir", and no player bar the captain should speak to the ref unless spoken to first.
I'd also like refs to stop calling out players who are offside, holding down, grappling etc. Just penalise them. I'm sick of hearing refs trying to justify a penalty by saying "you did it the last 3 tackles". If thats the case, they should have been pinged on the 1st tackle instead of the ref seeing a penalty, but letting it slide. That sort of stuff only leads to confusion for players as it sends mixed signals throughout a game as to what is and isn't being allowed in the play the ball that day.
