As a Parra fan I'm not convinced that Hagan is that good a coach. However Smith isn't perfect either. Maybe the two of them combined (all of Smiths good attributes with all off Hagan's good attrubites) then I think you'll get a great coach. But that's wishfull thinking. I think Fitzgerald must have been thinking along these lines when he hired Hagan (Smith's set the club with a well drilled team & now Hagan can take us to a premiership, ala 2001 with the Knights).

After watching the Eels play with Hagan as coach, I've seen some things disappear from Parra's play which Smith had instilled in them (good kick chase, line speed in defence, support play). But on the other side of the coin, I don't think Smith would have got us through last years finals series the way Hagan did.

I'm hoping Hagan is shown the door at the end of the year if he doesn't get Parra to the preliminary final.

With the talent he has Hagan must at least make the GF to get a contract extension beyond 2009.

I would love to see Sterling coach Parra in 2010 but it is more likely that it will be someone like Daniel Anderson.

I would also consider Steve Folkes. (I however cannot see him coming to Parra, he hates us too much.)

To be honest, I think Parramatta has one of the most over-rated sides in the comp. It is stupid to say we have the second or third best side in the comp. I rate Melbourne, Manly, NQ, Roosters all with better sides then us. Look at our backline? only really Hayne and Inu are superstars, in the forwards? Hindy, Cayless & Feleti? the rest are just solid players.

I think people jumped the gun on Parra this year, and i'm not surprised we aren't going to good ( we always start crap anyway, even under Brian). I think our side is very over-rated.

Supercoach Elliott, before he had the cattle to win a premiership, was picking Croker and Martin at 5/8.

Ball distribution, or passing in any direction at all, was not one of Croker's strong points.

But at the time Richards was spending twice as much time on the injured list as he was on the field.

Petersen did alright. Sure he's probably the world's slowest winger (did he ever make a break to score a try?), but he had more heart than most of the rest of the team combined.

Smithy did sign some classic duds over the years though :lol: How long until we can add one T.Smith to the list?
