Morts gone to Roosters

I don't think Scott Fulton or Kane Cleal had the work ethic of Daniel Mortimer.
Scott Minto...is his connection with the "Minto boys"..Mateo, Inu, Folau ????

Hard work pays off, and I reckon the Roosters will be the beneficiary of the hard work ethic of Daniel Mortimer. I hope so anyway. I know both Steve and Chris Mortimer very well and they both rate him highly (as you would expect).
Brian Smith is shrewd judge and he wouldn't waste his time on a kid he didn't think could make it.
Put it this way, Brian Smith is a better judge of a player than you and me (me at least), and the Roosters talent identifier Peter O'Sullivan is one of the best in the business.
O'Sullivan was headhunted by the Chooks for his 'talent indentification skills' when he was at Storm - he uncovered a few when he was at the Storm - Inglis, Folau, Slater, Hoffman, Smith just a few...

Morts is no 1st grade rookie, so he hasn't been identified. I'd say Peter Nolan has identified a few in his time also. I trust what Nolan and SK are doing. Wish Mortimer all the best, but he just doesn't cut it

this will be another one of those mateo and inu ones where it comes back and bites you in the ass mark my word.

I wouldn't call letting Morts go biting us on the a$$ later. It wont happen.
Not like Tariq Sims anyway. WOW now that was a massive loss. Lost ur whole a$$, not just a bite

If Morts can crack it as a first grader elsewhere then good on him. He'll have overachieved. But biting us on the ass, please. He's no loss.

Yeah, how dumb to re-sign a 5/8 who'd just played in a grand final and been one of our best players along the way. What on earth were we thinking... we should have had you in charge

Obviously your eye for talent is on par with Paul Osborne's.

The funny thing is o'sullivan let him go from the storm when he came to us according to the interview bellamy did around the time of the 09 grand final.

Full circle for morts. Maybe osullivans standards have dropped now he doesnt have a blank cheque book?

Maybe they have dropped but he is good at spotting raw talent.
Just my opinion though, nothing to get hot about. You either agree with me or you don't..and either way it doesn't bother me.
One NRL coach I have spoken to about Daniel told me that learning to play NRL is like learning to drive a car. When you are on P plates, you are nervous watching every possible thing and often get distracted. After you graduate to a full licence everything becomes second nature..Not a bad analogy.
Mortimer has played about 50 games in First Grade, and is now off his P Plates. The thing I like about him is his desire to achieve, and his willingness to work at it.
As Jack Gibson said once.."If your job is a street sweeper, make sure you try to become the best street sweeper in the business".
In my opinion, Daniel has that determination. I think in his last game with Parramatta he topped the tackle count. That makes him a Jack Gibson type player, and with his family background, he has the drive to make it. I really hope he does..
