Mullen plays like he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders. There's no doubt he's got the talent but his head is just not in the right place. For his own benefit I think he would be better off at another club.

I've always thought Gidley was best @ fullback & that's when Newcastle looked most dangerous; I think his rubbish in the halve's & he wouldn't have got injured if he was @ fullback.
Gidley is best at fullback, but I think Boyd is better, particularly at playing Bennett-ball.

you could be right, but here's the thing... if Bennett can't make US into "another club" so to speak, then we're f**ked anyway.

they certainly are. year after year. all the talk at the moment is about Bennett hunting for forwards. discussions with Poore, Scott already on the way.

I think some of you are harsh on Mullen. Put a good forward pack in front of him and he would do well.I would have him at 5/8 at the bunnies

ok...lets say 280k a year then...break it in the middle somewhere. The question i ask myself is for that money AND experience if i was his employer....would i sack him or those around him?

Given he is a bargain compared to Chris Sandow, and given we aren't going to find any better at that price, I'd suggest we keep him and look at punting those making his job harder than it needs to be...

The kid came into the comp with so much expectation. Hard to live up to it and I don't think he was ever the type of player to be the next Joey or whatever. He plays his best footy with dominant blokes at 7 and 9. Some guys are better suited at being the vice captain so to speak. Mullen is probably better with someone else running the team and he chimes in at good times. I don't see him as an alpha dog on the field. Gids isn't the best half going around but he has the confidence to get on the front foot and force the pace. Mullen is missing that influence at the moment.

Take a look at the KOTW points

Mullo is a hero when we win and the forums favourite scape goat when we lose. I am going to go as far to say that without him in the side we just about lose every game this year

Although it is fair to say he hasn't been on par with his performances from the first 2 months of footy.

Even going back to round 1, where are those instinctive plays, like the try he scored?

He's turned into a bit of a robot or the players around him are letting him down. But I still believe his form has dropped as well, unfortunately as happens each year.

The whole teams form has dropped. No one can avoid their own form slumping while playing with this pack of softcocks.

Mullen can't and will never be able to play under pressure. The most accurate excuse for the lack of dominance in the last how many years.

Exactly, he can't think quickly enough, and doesn't have vision, hence the lack of variety in his play, and poor decision making. IMO he's not a half. People have been making excuses for him for years, but to date nothing has changed.

Considering every game we've managed to win in the past 5 years has pretty much directly come off his back I'd say yeah, we kinda need to keep him.

Take a look at the KOTW points. Everyone's grateful he's in the side when we win but he's the first one blamed when we lose which is a bit of a cop out when we'd already lost the game against the Raiders when we were 14-0 down and it wasn't Mullo dropping every ball or kicking the restart out on the full...
