*Still Injured*

Its Worth Reshuffling To Have Berrigan as a forward utility off the bench.

Mat Rogers has been playing far better than Brent Tate, i think he is a good chance of getting a spot

Cant carry only 2 props on the bench.
Berrigan might be a "utility" but he cant cover prop/2nd row.
Berrigan or Bowen...not both

The selectors won't go for Hodges and Bell in the centres because both are right side players. That's why the picked Bell on the wing last year. On the other hand, Inglis, Slater, Tonga, Berrigan and Matt Rogers are all left side players so I think the selectors will choose between them.

Hodges was used at left centre in the Tri-Nation last year, and that's why he was pretty quiet - Gasier and Hodges are both right side and Ricky Stuart decided to give Gasnier his favoured side.

The hardest decision is whether to go with Berrigan, who in my opinion has been down on form, or Matt Bowen on the bench. Also, Kaufusi or Ross, depending on form. Other than that the side almost picks itself.

Steve Bell played the 2nd game at Left Centre and was among one of our most threatening. I believe Meninga will remember that and he'll be selected there.

Rogers - Still needs to prove himself
Inglis - We need a winger, put him there.
Slater - Fullback or nothing IMO
Tonga - I havn't seen him play this season, nor heard about him.
Berrigan - Hasn't played Centre in a long time.

Another forgotten man is Matt Scott who IMO is going quite well for the Cowboys, him or Ross could find themselves on the bench.

I can't be arsed reading this whole thread, coming in a bit late.

But the best starting side Queensland can field - adopting the policy of picking the best players available, perhaps not necessarily in their best positions, is (and this assumes that the selectors will favour Hunt at fullback, not my personal choice):-

K. Hunt
B. Slater
J. Hodges
G. Inglis
M. Bowen
D. Lockyer
J. Thurston
M. Crocker
S. Thaiday
C. Webb
P. Civoniceva
C. Smith
S. Price

NSW cannot match that side.

A back three of the hard running Hunt and the devastating Slater and Bowen (check out the try assist stats for the latter two).

The best halves in the country and firepower in the centres. Inglis unleashed wider than at any time this year.

A strong, creative backrow and offloading props. With a handy kicking hooker.

Goodnight...

he sort of pumps the legs up in an individual motion.

If he pumped them up together wouldn't that be called jumping?

As for the QLD team I'd go with powerful ball carriers in the forwards with some strong defenders in the backrow and then pure excitement in the backs. If the games finishes 50-50 in the forwards then NSW won't have the halves or backs to get anywhere near QLD. Yes I'm well aware the back line will never happen.

1. Bowen
2. Folau
3. Hodges
4. Inglis
5. Slater
6. Lockyer

8 Civoneciva

After watching the replay NQ v Manly i will say one thing.... If Jamie Lyon plays for NSW,then Bowen has to play for QLD... 3 times he ran at Lyon & each time he left him grasping at air ,& 3 times they scored ...Although one was called back.

When Lyon got sick of being stepped around he tried to rush up on Bowen, who quickly passed the ball on & Farrer who scored .

I sincerly hope they pick Lyon at centre,Inglis ,Hodges & Bowen (if picked) will have a field day..

Hunt is showing some weaknesses of late. He's had his fair share of "moments" this year (a few crucial errors in games), and last night was no exception. Bombing a try chance which would have effectively ended the match, then almost letting Souths score a matchwinning try after the siren! I mean honestly, shielding the ball in that situation .. what was he thinking?

Very good side but i'd have Dallas johnson lock, with Crocker moving up to 2nd row and Sam back to bench. Might also put Tate on a pick and swing and put Bowen on bench as well.

I think the focus on your backline is blinding you to the forward pack battle.

NSW have the potential to monster QLD's pack.

Just like your backline has the potential to run rings around NSW's.

I think Petero is the only QLD forward who would make NSW's starting pack. Similar to how no NSW back would make QLD's lineup. Possibly Matt King.

Fair comments?

Cameron Smith would be the hooker RABK, plus Petro. That is 2 at least, and Johnson could easily be the lock with O'Donnell out.

I don't agree. Buderus is captain and would be selected ahead of Smith and Johnson would not push Mason, Hindmarsh and Ryan out of the backrow.

BS..Smith is a much superior hooker and can captain anyway you know! Buderus is no certainty to be picked for game 1 this year as he had a absolute shocker in City-Country! Johnson would at least make the bench.

NSWs only have QLD in the backrow, the rest IMO is in Queenslands favour. The Front Row, of Petero, Smith and Price is currently better than a Front Row of Bailey, Buderus and Kite.

Either way, I don't think either team blows the other off the park. It all depends on who shows up and who plays as a unit.

Forward are like beer ... they may be packaged differently, but they all do the same job (I guess some connisseurs may beg to differ). They hit it up and try and get a roll-on.

Anyway, the point made that NSW is going to "monster" the Queensland forwards - well - IN YOUR DREAMS - when you have a pack including Johnson, Crocker, Webb, Civ, Price, Thaiday, Kaufusi and Carroll. Haven't seen those guys being "monstered" lately. In fact, there's a few guys in that list who have been known to put the wind up NSW forwards in the past ... remember anything about Luke Bailey and Carl Webb? Carroll, Civ and Kaufusi are known as the biggest hitters in the game.

And looking at the statistics of the season so far, Steve Price is still in the top five metre gainers in the league.

The big difference in the teams is the halves .... when you leave Scott Prince out of a team, then you know you've got something special.

If QLD want to lose to NSW yes.
Thorn????? He is very slow and would be exposed in origin.
Bowen on the wing vs King or Grothe........yah!
Costigan? What has he done to deserve origin selection???
Graham? A specialist winger/center..yeah he will do alot.
I wont go on...........

AShley Graham has had a great year but he might not be a QLDr im not sure there.
Costigan has been playing awesome for the raiders and hits it up hard, can smash defenders in attack too.
Learoyd lahrs wont make the squad as i said though dont be surprised if costigin is there
