Nathan Brown guides St Helens to GF

Mary will be thrilled with that. Browny as assistant would be ideal.

Why on earth would Nathan Brown accept an assistant coach position? He's just won a Super League GF, been sought out for head coaching positions in the NRL, and yet he would accept a job of lesser pay to be an assistant to the guy he once hired to be his strength and conditioning coach?

How about Browny coming back as coaching director?
Daniel Anderson went back to Parramatta.

Would be nice. But a Coaching Director would want a say in the head coaching staff. TBH, Browny has a few more years of head coaching left in him before he takes on that kind of role.

Brownn has come out and said he would that's why. He came out last week and said he is heading back to Australia and would be happy with an Assistant coaching role. He basically said to all NRL clubs come and get me.

NATHAN Brown says he would be happy to accept an assistant coach’s role at an NRL club if the right opportunity came up.

Brown, who applied for the Wests Tigers job but missed out to Jason Taylor, is preparing to wind up his term as coach of English club St Helens with the Super League grand final against Wigan this weekend.

He will then come home without a job to go to, but with a plan to continue his coaching career.

“I’m open to ideas,” Brown told Sky Sports Radio, before adding, with a laugh: “Some head coaches would be great to work for and some not so great to work for.

“I enjoy coaching and working with players, so if the right opportunity comes up I’ll be happy to work wherever.”

Brown, the former St George Illawarra player and later coach of the Dragons, said the main reason he was coming home was for family reasons.

“I’ve had a great stay and the team’s doing really well, but I’ve been here for a while now,” he said.

“I’ve got four kids and one was born here and one came over with us when she was only four or five months old, so they don’t really know their grandparents and it’s probably time to take them home.

“My two oldest are at the stage where they would like to go home as well, so the timing’s right for us to head home and we’ll be sad to leave but happy to go home.

“I’d like to keep coaching. It’s more family reasons why we’re going home. I’ve got a very good job here and we’re well looked after by St Helens, which is a great club. I had a shot at the Tigers, but once I didn’t get that job the wife had her heart set on going home.

“I don’t have a job to go to, but I’d like to keep coaching. It was just the right thing to do for our family.”

Well I missed that, even so I don't see him coming back to work as Mary's assistant. Happy to proved wrong though.

You never know Mary may suprise us.

From what I've seen so far, it feels very much like another 'Price experience'. Peter Mulholland will definately make a difference and I think in about 3 years time his work will make a huge differnce.

However, Mulholland's hands are tied to a great extent for season 2015 and it will be very difficult to build and settle a good team for season 2016.

The bloke can probably write his own ticket now when it comes to getting an assistant's gig.
I will be staggered if answering to Mary falls into the category of 'right opportunity'. Bennett, Bellamy, Hasler, now that's opportunity.

No offence to Mary, but would a seasoned coach, just coming back from a ESL premiership work under anyone but a proven, championship winning coach.

It defies logic.

Congrats to Brownie. His first premiership title in the old dart.

One of the worst things you'll see on the field. He'll be castrated for that.

Was it Choppy Close who did something similar in Origin? Difference being that Queenslanders lauded him a hero for doing so.
ahh yes.

when he backhanded an injured eric grothe whilst dummy half so he could get the ball faster. i think it worked because he scored.

f*ck dude - that was ages ago! how f*cking old are we?

Without getting too off topic... Jarryd Hayne has left Parramatta, Brad Arthur suffers a case of second year syndrome, Nathan Brown takes over mid season?
